Yes £750 seems the maximum but £1000 is too much.

I don't see how you can put £1000 in within 14 days as you can put a maximum of £500 within the first 7 days and then a maximum of £250 a month on a set day or am I missing something?

You could do something similar to this:

    21st - Put in £500 starting amount
25th - Standing Order goes through for £250

Then change the date of the standing order to early in the month (this is allowed and simple to do with internet banking).

1st - Standing Order goes through for £250.

Therefore you get £1,000 in really quick :)

Isn't this what I put in my post (429)? I thought people have an issue with the £1000 too quick.
Sorry if I'm being thick. End of a long week.

Yeah looking back it is almost exactly what you wrote..

The only issue of putting money in too quick is if you try to put more than £750 in within 7 days. But it's possible to get £1,000 in within two weeks and that's what I did :)

I agree it has been a long week, at least it's the weekend now!

    Hi guys,

My wife and I have opened regular saver on the 10th of October and already made our initial deposit. I haven't understand in much detail until I found this thread, so if anyone can confirm that my thoughts are right.

10/10/06- account open and initial deposit of £500 made
23/10/06-first SO of £250 from my external current account
01/11/06- will reset my SO £250

    Questions:
Will my first SO will arrive on time?
Will 1st of November sounds right or need to move to later date?
I have cancelled the SO that the branch staff set up from my Lloyds current
and set up from my external current account, Will this be a problem?

Hope somebody could enlighten me.Any replies greatly appreciated.

Q1 - I'm not sure if you have to set the SO up a few working days in advance of when you want the money to come out... hopefully someone else can help you with that question.

Q2 - Yes 1st November is great as it's a new calendar month. So just remember to change the date of the SO once it has gone through on the 23rd and you'll be fine.

Q3 - I use a Lloyds current account but from what I've read on this thread it seems fine to use your external current account.

    Hope that helps :)

Assuming funds from an external account take 3 working days and allowing for weekends and different number of days in a month, I suppose it might be best to set up a SO date from outgoing bank to be 30th to make sure gets to Lloyds account beginning on the calendar month ( anything from 1st to 4th)

I would like to say that this thread is way too long. I use to read it until it got to about 8 or 9 pages (went on holiday) and it was ridicules.

Its going to be off putting to someone that wants to open the account and they may think that its not worth the hassle

    Some one who has followed this thread should;

    1) Write a summary of what's in it (tips and tricks etc)
    2) Get a moderator to lock this thread and have a link in the last post to a new thread with the summary of the old thread the first post in the new thread.

Just wondering what you think. Is this a good idea?

...but as the thread is here i may aswell post in it.

this is a "what if" scenario with a bit of "how/why" thrown in to juice it up abit.

i opened my reg saver over the phone on thursday(19th). nice guy confirmed everything i have read, SO from wherever, 1st deposit £500.00 etc.

i didnt have £500.00 in my Lloyds CA at the time, but no problem, he would action it for the 26th to give me time to fund my account.

i did this and luckily the money hit my Lloyds CA today (23rd). thing is my Reg Saver account has been opened today aswell, and the £500.00 taken from my CA. if that money hadnt hit my account i guess they would have closed my reg saver etc.

anyone had similar experiences at all, and if it did infact mean you didnt have the funds in place, what happened?

also, i now want to setup my SO so i can get my next 2 £250.00 in asap. should i do it for say the 27th and then again for the 1st?

i havnt received anything through the post yet, do i just use the Reg Saver SC and AN for the SO? theres no ref numbers involved other than my account name?

    thank you.

Yes the same thing happened to me...they took it out 3 days earlier than they said, fortunately I had transferred the money straight away!
