Strange Ebay Email

I have had a couple of questions that look like they came through ebay and it had a persons ebay id and the question was "please contact me i am desperate to purchase item". I knew I had nothing for sale and knew it was a scam but forwarded it spoof@ebay and they confirmed it was a scam

Bunnie - I seem to remember (and forgive me if it wan't you) that a couple of weeks ago you were on the board asking about illegal copies and what to do about them. Is it possible that your ebay ID could have been ascertained from that thread, and now someone who had those illegal copies removed could now be trying to have a go at you? I'm not normally paranoid, but this whole thing seems a bit of a coincidence.

On the other hand, I sometimes get emails similar to this, and I don't sell at all. Also they are never addressed to me by name, which anything coming from ebay/paypal will be.

I looked that thread up and you're right, and guess what the dvd was that the op reported: Mission Impossible 3. Seems like the person figured out who reported him.

Thanks, will just delete all these emails in future and ignore them. Have no idea where they would have picked my eBay ID from though, as it is completely different to my username here

Then I wouldn't worry about it. Sometimes a coincidence is just that!

I had a similar email saying that I would be in dispute if I didn't send the items they bought from me. I knew I hadn't sold any such items and just ignored the email. I haven't heard anything since.
