Tweezerman tweezers or other brand

Options
Hi

My Tweezermans Ive had for about 6 years are no good now, they need sharpening but only info on this is for America and would cost too much to send.

I dont mind paying for Tweezerman but Id be interested to know if there are any other brands out there that are as good?

Thanks Alison

If there are, I've not found them, and I've tried many! Its not that they aren't as good to begin with, its like Uggs, tweezers that arn't tweezerman just don't seem to stay as sharp/able to pick up small things as well after some months of use. I have had a pair of tweezermann tweezers that I've used for about 10 years now, they do need some sharpening, but still have some life in them yet. I also have had Boots own brand, Rubie and Millie, Superdrug, Body Shop...the list goes on. I don't think they lasted more then a few months -some were rubbish to begin with. Others just became blunt way too early on to credit them with a "value for money" label!

I wouldn't mind finding a cheaper pair but none seem to be of the same quality or last for long enough.

Thanks for that Il stick with Tweezerman I think - would cost a lot to send them to the states and take ages so It's cheaper to get a new pair.

Will see if there are any bargins about but maybe best using Boots for points, but can get 10% student discount in Superdrug.

I've had a pair of cheap tweezers I've been using for years - I bought some Tweezerman this week and I honestly don't think they are any better.

    Hi Alison

I had my tweezers re-sharpened last year, it cost me a couple of dollars in postage and I had them back within a couple of weeks.

I think it depends on which style you get- whichever works best for you. I bought the slanted ones, my mum has the pointed ones. For me, I can't do as well with the pointed ones- make sure you pick the best type for your brows.
I found with mine that they stayed sharper for alot longer- I rarely got about 6 months out of my old non-tweezermann tweezers- I never used to really notice them going blunt, but I'd just accidentally lose them and have to buy a new pair and then realise just how bad the older pair was! With Tweezermann, the life span if you like, is alot longer, years instead of months. In some cases, cheap tweezers are so bad that even after 8years, my Tweezermann pair (which do need to be resharpened as I use them for everything!) are 10 times as better.

I guess it depends what your looking for, for precission and the ability to catch something first time every time, Tweezermann rule, but if your just after a household pair for picking up things like beads or are tweezing a very hairy part of your body insted of waxing say, then the chepaer pair would be OK. Its the precission and getting tiny things that Tweezerman do best IMO, and I have tried many other brands to compare. (Wared my money!!)

When I went to boots and saw the prices for tweezerman it took some persuading I bought the precision ones also and they are so fabulous, much better than any others on the market and have years of guarantee so it is worth the investment and they are so precise just perfect:D

Thanks for the replies, I only got as far as Superdrug today but they only had own brands Ive tried before but are to me no good.

I have notied a difference with Tweezerman - they do really seem miles better than the cheaper ones, I only use them for eyebrows.

Have had threading done today which will last so might look into the idea of sending them off for sharpening if Its low cost and not too long, will have a look on the website. Not sure how you pay for American repairs.

  • I'd like to say I've tried loads of tweezer brands in the past but none have lasted as long as my Tweezermans (some didnt even meet at the ends from new!). I have unbelieveably quick growing brows (the only thing I use them for) and only the Tweezermans have ever been able to get at the ickle black dots I have on day 2 after tweezing. Well worth the money IMHO
