Thanks for deleting my question to the Quidco Rep, despite this thread being the only place they respond.
Tell me, though - why, when there are non-topic posts all over moneysavingexpert forums, all of which are left alone, are the rules somehow different for this thread? I've never seen such a concerted effort to delete perfectly sensible posts, and I'm still reminded of 1984 and the thought police. Could you also answer the question please whether MSE derives any income from Quidco?

MOVING THREADS FOR BETTER RESPONSES
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

So this website is being partly financed by Quidco - that explains quite a lot.0

GMTV, ITV1, Tuesday 13 October, between 7:20 & 9:30am. The topic's news reactive so you'll have to wait and see!
You can email GMTV Martin Lewis on as above
I have to ask a few question . I do hope they ask him on Air0 -

I noticed this a little while ago (not all the links had an asterisk) and queried it with Martin who confirmed :
(I'm guessing he won't mind me quoting him seeing as how open the site is with regards to funding)It has no refer a friend scheme - but we have a very very minor affiliate link deal with them - and even though its mostly irrelevant and doesn't actually count usually on the amount of traffic we get - for proprieties sake we add a star.0 -
then again there are also * against bank and credit card links on the site that have not stopped the forum fighting against Bank and Credit card charges
as the "how the site is funded" link says :-
Guides are written purely from a ‘what's the best way to save money?' stance. Yet, once they're finished one of the team has the job to see if any 'affiliate links' to the top products can be found. While these look and work the same way as normal links, if someone clicks through, the link is tracked and it may generate a payment to the site (the details vary; sometimes per click, per user, per application, per accepted application or any combination).
Doesn't this compromise the site?
No. The MoneySaving articles are written, then totally separately, paid links are looked for. If no paying link is available, nothing in the article changes. If the best is the best and doesn't pay, it stays the best. The link used is simply a ‘non-affiliated' i.e. non-paying, link. Financial considerations do not impact articles.
However, product rates and best buys change all the time, as do the products which have available affiliate links. This means at different times, different articles generate more or less for the site, and we will remind you of those top guides or deals more when they're better for the site. Yet we will never change our stance, or picks because of it.
as it says , the use of links does not affect the stance or advice on the forum or the main siteEx forum ambassador

Good. I look forward to seeing Martin Lewis tackling the thorny subject of cashback sites that don't pay their members what they expected to get - and don't take that as necessarily relating just to Quidco, though that's the one that seems to be generating all the heat.0 -
from what I see on the various threads on referrals its not unique to Quidco , there are similar complaints in other threads.
