not in our neck of the woods. however all LAs work differently, which i believe we shouldn't.

but...having myself not specifically come accross this and only going on colleagues then i accept you could be right in some instances.

makes sense to me probably not to you. im in a muddle.

Anthill, the ways of the Welfare state are beyond my comprehension. There is absolutely nothing within the rules of any local authority for me to buy nine properties to be let to each of my nine children who have five children of their own and let them a property suitable for their needs (six bedroomed properties) and let them at a commercial rate (LHA rate obviously.........this might be £3000 per week in Chelsea or £300 in Newcastle upon Tyne). The local authority will pick up the rent bill via HB.

It probably does wonders for the GNP of the UK. But it debatable if this is good housing policy or a good use of public funds.

it can also show if the OP is joint owner with the claimant/sister. not for one minute suggesting this would be the case but this has to be pointed out incase anyone else reading thinks 'bingo'.

There is absolutely no indication or suggestion that the OP is intending to do anything like this so why bother raising it?

alas, this does tell me you are asking if there is a workaround. apologies if you were not. maybe i misunderstood in which case could you explain?

Well the fact that you highlighted the first half of my sentence and not the second half says a lot... (rolls eyes...) I would have thought from reading that whole sentence it was obvious that I was asking is there some legitimate way round this i.e. if the council said 'clearly this is not dodgy so it's ok as long as you do x, y and z' then I'd do that as I've got nothing to hide, just want to know what the x, y and z might be.

Excuse me - I refer you back to the question I asked before your post - how am I taking advantage of anything or anyone? I could get more rent from renting privately. It is nonsensical if the government doesn't let us do this surely, otherwise please explain to me what I stand to gain and what the taxpayers stands to lose compared to my sis renting from someone else?:mad::mad:

I really strongly recent implications from both Anthillmob and TerryW that I am trying to do anything dodgy, I'm really not!!!

So back to the question I've asked from the start but no one has answered - why on earth would my proposal not be allowed, who is it hurting?

No implication whatsoever from me that you are doing anything "dodgy".

Your proposal would be allowed within the rules for HB.

I guess I meant Annhillmob implying I was doing something fraudulent whilst you were implying I was doing something immoral. I just don't see how it could possibly be considered immoral (and to illustrate that point I've asked the same question about 10 times in this thread and no one has attempted to answer it... ;))

If they live in a 5 bed house then why don't they sign up to https://www.Homeswapper.co.uk  Thats how i'm looking for my swap and it's how I got the place i'm in now. You may get someone who has a 4 bedroom house who wants to downgrade to a 2 bedroom. Also to make room now why doesn't your sister and her hubby give up their bedroom and let the kids have it. That way you can have bunk beds in one room and bunks in the second room with another single bed. Your sister and her hubby can then get a sofa bed for the living room to sleep on. When room is tight you have to make do. Years ago you had very big families living in small houses.

    Get them onto Homeswapper :D

as i asked politely, i quoted the whole bit. highlighted the bit that stood out to me and asked for further clarification.

but, as usual, it turns narky so excuse me while i bow out to save my sanity.

seems you cant help by trying to understabnd what people are on about.

the way i read it looked wrong to me and the defensive stance you now take leave me with no option than to say good luck youre on your own mate.

Well I'm disappointed you feel like that. I came on here asking some open and genuine questions, I received various barely disguised accusations, responded to them, and now you say I'm on my own.

My 'defensive' stance is because I've done nothing wrong and have no intention of doing so - sorry I can't indulge your fantasies by saying I'm gonna do something worse. I know you say you 'just asked for clarification' but all your questions and comments have been pretty accusing, surely you can see that?

If this is the attitude I can expect from the staff in the relevant department then I don't hold out much hope for a mutually beneficial conclusion. :(

Anthillmob - just out of interest, what do you do in housing benefits? Are you an assessor?
