WHY buyers WHY?!

I always set best offers to reject stupid offers. So say if i put something up for £20 and i know i will accept £16 for it, thats what i set the limit at.
And i ALWAYS get buyers making an offer of £15.99 and it gets rejected! Why do they do it?? Its only 1p, and they miss out because of that! Does anyone else get this?!

Set your limit at £15.99 then.......it's only 1p

As far as I can remember we've never had a .99p offer on any of our buy it nows. People usually offer to the nearest 50p.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

You could set to reject at a lower level (say £12) and refer offers of £12.01 to £15.99 to you - in that case you can make a counter offer or even accept if only a few pence out.0

Shouldn't this be more of WHY SELLER WHY. As your missing out on a sale for the sake of 1p when the buyer can go elsewhere to buy. If I have a best offer on a £20 item I set it to reject at a level far lower than a offer I would accept you can then counter offer0 -
Do buyers get told what the auto-reject level is then? Otherwise, how would they know it was just a penny higher? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Why do you add best offers. I never have and believe me it doesn't stop buyers haggling for a lower price.
I think if you add best offer you get silly buyers with silly offers. 0 -
Our main buy it now sells for £10, but we do accept reasonable offers. Ludicrous offers get auto-rejected though. Why do you add best offers. I never have and believe me it doesn't stop buyers haggling for a lower price.

not at all
when i see best offer it just says to me i can knock at least a quid off the price
usually i look at competitors(if there is any) and offer 50p-£1 under the lowest available price0 -
I've listed a few things for Buy-it-now of £20 and been offered as low a £5 for them!!!
