MSE News: Thousands of students hit by loan payment delays

I think the problem is that many of these people having problems either applied late, or were not prompt/thorough in delivering their documents.
If you think how many students they have to deal with and their limited amounts of time, you see how they cannot be ringing up immediately for everyone who has done something wrong.
Short answer to this problem is: Get your forms in early and on time. Then youll have no problems. I am one of such people and do not understand why everyone else thinks that they should get special treatment just because they choose to leave their application until the last min and "Need their money urgently". By the time your in uni you are supposed to be a responsible adult, so take responsibility, its your fault, not the slc.0 -
I actually called this whole issue back in February on The Student Room, when I found out about the forced non-means tested assessments they would be able to do to clear any backlogs.
Unfortunately, people continued to get drunk and take drugs instead of listening to what I said back then. Now the same people who laughed it all off are the ones complaining...0 -
I applied on weekend of opening applications. I recieved my first payment 1st week of July as expected. (placement gets 1st payment 2 weeks into placement)0

It really hacks me off when people make out that it's all the student's fault. IMO, SLC are clearly !!!!!

I did all of this, as I have done for the past 4 years, when I have experienced no problems, and still have no got any funding! Like you I am one of such people who does get my forms in on time and I do need this money quite urgently and it is NOT my fault but that of the SLC. Many people are experiencing the same as me in the exact same circumstances, you are just one of the lucky ones. SLC are at fault and something needs doing about the incompetence of yet another government department.0 -
Well student finance have had info of mine since June for the grants , kids birth certs, CSA payment schedule, council tax bill, childs change of name via deedpole form, urm cant think what else but there was other studd. Told me it would all be sent back within 2 weeks. I am still waiting. Apparantly my info ended up at the wrong office and was only located about 3 weeks ago so now i go to the back of the queue for grant assessments...even though they have had all the info they need.. I have been told it will 'probably' be assessed before xmas....
I understand my case is not rare either. If ppl dont send the forms off in time, then do not compalin, but when they have have everything they requested within 48 hours of requesting it i feel quite let down! Esp as my grant will now be assessed as if i only sent the info back at the end of september..
They cant tell me what grants i will actually get and i have been told by student finance do not use the online calc as it isnt releiable... so as it stands i dont actually know what support we will actually get!0
