I agree with the previous posters - it's too big a purchase to buy without trying. I think the last time we bought, we tried out about 15 different sofas (and they were only the ones we actually liked!); it was amazing how a really comfy-looking sofa could be really awful to use.

If you buy online, why not try ebay? Loads of sofas on there, and if it does turn out to be uncomfortable, at least you haven't spent wodges of money.

in associated trade, other half wanted new sofa so did the reasearch. the best quality and design is italian leather and italian construction, so much is from china, land of leather dfs etc and its quality i wouldnt touch, yet did not like the prices of nattuzzi etc. these guys import themselves and will sell 1 or 100 and check as they do some cheaper stuff too but think all the sofas are pure italian and are great and am sitting on one writing this. http://www.furnitureroom.co.uk/

I bought from Sofasofa about four years ago now and have been really pleased with the suite, would certainly buy from them again. Went to one of their open days in London (just happened to coincide with us needing a new suite) so did try it before we bought it but I would happily recommend them. Just had their brochure through again with their sale info and if we wanted to we could order new covers for about £250 although the old ones are still going strong so no need. Although the covers are washable I haven't tried it, had the suite steam cleaned about three years ago after we decorated the living room and that worked a treat and I just make sure I hoover them regularly to keep them looking good. (Did pay the extra for Scotchguarding when we bought them so that may have helped, don't know).
  • Hi,
First post on this forum. I have bought a Sofa from sofasofa, but 3 months on I am STILL waiting for it to be delivered. They have moved the delivery date 3 times now. Also, on many occasions, I have been told that someone will return my call on a particular day i.e. "when the fabric comes in" and have heard nothing from them. This really isn't good customer service.

I would advise anyone who is thinking of buying a sofa to avoid these guys like the plague. I wish I'd just gone to Ikea now!
