Orange contract nearly up

Hi

My orange contract is nearly up and it's time to upgrade and also my ipod screen has just cracked. I must admit that when it comes to mobile phones I'm a bit of a technophobe and these new touch screen phones have me completely baffled with everything thay can do.

In the past I've always had seperate gadgets for MP3's, photography, phone, sat nav etc but now it appears as if these can all be bundled into one.

I'm not too bothered about web surfing, especially considering the £6,000 bill being discussed on this forum at the mo so if anyone has any suggestions as to the best phone for the above it'll be much appreciated.

Also any advice on potential lengths of contract. I don't really want to be tied down to two years, eighteen months is long enough.

Thanks

Michael D

Nokia N86 does everything you list. Wait for your contact to end, call retentions and see what they'll offer you. (you get a better deal after the contract ends).
  • I'm a technophobe myself but i get on just fine with the Nokia 5800 and that's a touchscreen. Also it came with 8gb micro card which is fine for plenty of music. The camera is not brilliant on it though but i have used Nokia maps on it for sat nav, etc. Just adding an option to the N86 which is also a good phone.

Absolutely correct - I got a stonking deal by waiting till the last month !
  • Thanks for the replies so far, they've been quite helpfull.

I hope someone can shed some light on the following. I notice that the iphone is coming to Orange shortly and I've registered my interest. In the meantime I thought I'd look into these "Apps" mentioned everywhere and I'm blown away by the number of them. One that takes my eye is a rock radio station with shows from as far apart as Spain and Canada. As these clearly won't be picked up on an fm signal how much, if anything, will I be charged to listen and how do they work?

    Thanks

Any iPhone 'should' come with unlimited internet. As yet there's no info on any iPhone plan from Orange. But it would be VERY unlikely not to have that. The radio stations would be streamed via the internet to the phone.

For apps there's an icon on the iPhone front screen labelled 'app store' just touch that and browse the apps. You can also use the app store on iTunes on your pc or mac and download then and install them from that.
