No, pointer worked and I got into safe mode but Combofix was the only thing that would shift AntiVirus Pro 2010.
It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends

You have to RENAME malwarebytes program as the virus knows what the names of the programs are that will remove it, and as such blocks those from running. Just change the name to whatever.exe.

BillScarab - the one I had was also loaded with Zango and mywebsearch, and I couldn't run combofix or MBAM without being in safe mode and renaming the files. I suspect it was elements of AV Pro that was causing this....

I got this one too. Does anyone know where it comes from?

In the end I got the ex to come round and do a full, clean install of Windows 7 instead of re-installing XP after formatting the drive and ran AVG and Tune up Utilities to make sure that it had gone but I was less than impressed by it.

It's my own fault I got it though because I kept shutting off Windows Defender Scans when it slowed down my system D'oh! :o

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you being able to remove it!

I tried allsorts when I got it from managing to get into safe mode through hitting F8 when the computer rebooted (it had shut off system restore in safe mode! grrr) to getting into the OS in normal mode to find out that I just kept getting hit with error messages so I couldn't do anything which is when I gave up and installed the new OS.

    Good Luck!
