Hi, I am not sure if this is the right place! Came out of my house yesterday to find that my car, which was on the drive, had been covered in flour and a jar of Uncle Ben's chilli con carne (they left the evidence!)
Absolutely gutted. If I could find who did it, I would make them lick it all off! Anyway, I went to the car wash and then the jet wash, the chilli has all gone but the flour is now welded all over the roof, doors and all over the wipers and blades.
I really don't know what would be the best thing to get it off without ruining the paintwork, the flour has gone really hard, like glue. I dont really want to go out and spend a fortune on specialist products, so have any of you lovely people got any help?
BTW I did ring the police, am still waiting for someone to get back to me :-(

Could you maybe get old cloths or towels and soak them in some warm water with car shampoo in it and lay them over your car, and leave them to soak in.
Sorry, don't have much of a clue, but this might be a start.0 -
I know I shouldn't, but :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
You could make your dinner for tonight! That's MSE!0 -
unfortunately mixing flour and water (car wash) does infact actually make glue!
i wish you'd come on here first, i'd have told you to get most of it of with dry towels/leafblower etc. I think now your only (cheap) option is to mix up a bucket of boiling water with loads of fairy liquid (so much that the water is green) get some old towels, soak them in the soap and then lay them on your roof and leave them for atleast 20 mins. Then gently work the towel in circles and you should see some of it move. The problem is it is now part of your paint, and it's not going to come off easily.

dont really see why flour should wash off with warm sopay water and a sponge/mitt
if its really stuck and wont budge a clay bar kit should shift it0 -
Everything I can read about dissolving starch (the 'gluey' bit in flour) points to enzymes and/or strong alkaline (soapy) stuff.
You can try biological washing powder (it HAS to be bio powder); I'd mix it up with warm water into a gloopy paste then apply it just to the areas affected, leave it for an hour or two then wash off. For alkaline stuff, use a strong solution of sugar soap (diluted with water as on the bottle) and a sponge. It might takes several attempts to shift it, but just take your time and be gentle with it.0 -
Hate to say but could be worse. A friend of mine lived in a road where about a dozen cars had paint poured all over them. Charming.
Good luck at getting it off. Personally I would have used a jet wash as well...Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0 -

Sorry OP but :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I'm just trying to think of the reason or motive behind this "attack".
Have you had a recent failed dinner party?
Had a fall out with the local Mexican restaurant?
Insulted one of those little homepride flour grader guys?
And I just know there are more to come :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
On a serious note try all that has been said, (before the sparrows and starlings take the paint off)(;))I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Could you take off your wipers and blades and soak them in a basin with soapy water. At least you might be able to see where you're going if it rains then.0

Leave until next Spring then you can enter it in to the Spalding Flower Show:D, whoops wrong flower.:o
Sorry I couldn't resist.
Seriously, I would get in touch with Car Body Repair specialist, they may well know what is best to remove it, whatever you try, make sure you test it on a small hidden part of the car.0 -
remember if you start using things like Wasing up liquid or washing powder it will strip the wax off your car. You'll need to wax it again afterwards to protect the paint.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
