What type of dresses do girls wear to proms?

Are they proper ball gown puff dresses? Or are they just regular pretty dresses from oasis/warehouse?

I have a dress I could lend you - it's a long red dress with cross straps on the back. It's a medium, but I'm a size 8 and it fits me perfectly. I could send you a picture if you want.

I don't know why you thought anyone would shout at you - you seem to have gone about this prom in a very money saving DFW way. :T Hope the dress arrives.
Thank you for your kind words, it seems I underestimated all the MSE'ers.

I wasn't sure how much everyone on here would understand how much this prom means to my DD and consider the money spent as money that could have been thrown at my debt. Whilst I am quite happy to go without things for me, DD has been so good lately (she waited two months for a birthday present because I had no money to buy her a present) I would have been heartbroken not to give her the dress she wanted.

There seems to be so much pressure these days to do things 'the American Way'. I never had a prom and would never have dreamt of having nails/hair/fake tan - and a limo. In fact I am so old i don't think those things existed when I left school.

Now I am an MS I can clearly see the waste for one night.

Anyway I am about to post and update on said dress.

    Thanks for your kind words

Not proper ball gown dresses, more like premier dresses that stars wear on red carpet LOL!

You are so kind, I wished I had thought to post about this last week I would have had less sleepless nights.

I can lend you a dress I am a size 8-10, but all my dresses are knee length (not stuffy style, but not long either).

Paying debt back is really important, but once you GET IT and are on the right track, doing things like this prom are really important. They only come around once, and it only put debt free date back a bit.
