A bit down!

Sorry peeps, but I think i am having an off day.

I am expecting a little telling off for some off this post, but I am prepared! I am however close to tears too.

Its my daughters prom tomorrow night. Costs of prom are £20 limo (ride round town!) Nails (£20) Fake tan (£20) shoes (borrowed) Hair (should have been £20 but no money so boss has offered to pay! How embarressed am I!
Dress - she was going to wear an old (worn once very expensive from my wasteful days) one of mine, but it was too difficult to take in. Next best thing was my sister ordered one off ebay for her, but it was in Australia. They quoted 2-4 days for delivery by fed-ex on Sunday! Dress not arrived, therefore no dress.

She is sixteen and has paid for nails and fake tan herself. I have paid limo, boss paid for hair and sister paid for dress. I am stressing about it not arriving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway also got my bank statements. Over the six years I have been charged £1600 and £1200 of them in the last four months. So when the mortgage protection people paid my mortgage money into my 'frozen' account it got swallowed, so now I am behind with my mortgage. This is despite them being told to pay direct to mortgage people.

They admit their mistake, but 'I must reiterate that you have had the benefit of the claim payment albeit through your own account'. Abbey won't pay it back either! So another two complaint letters on their way.

Things aren't all bad - I have a plan going forward to pay my debts, I get paid on Wednesday. I have done two freelance jobs that I am waiting to get paid for and I am no longer burying my head in the sand. Normally when I feel like this I would buy a chinese and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately or fortunately I haven't got the money for either. LOL.

But I am so exhausted with planning, complaining, cooking, working (two jobs) being a mum and everything. I just need a) a little encouragement and b) a prom dress for tomorrow.

PS Please don't be too hard on me about the prom. Throughout all the crap that has been thrown at me my daughter has been diamond. To the point of emptying her penny jar for me to pay for food. (she had £10 bless her). Its a big night for her!

Thanks if you all got this far!!

I was lucky in that I sew, and made my daughter's prom dress, but I remember feeling miserable that she had to have something her mum had made.
It's when it affects other people that it's hardest.
I hope your daughter has a great time, and I wish I could magic a dress....where are the mice that sew overnight when you need them?
And I'm sorry you're exhausted. It sounds as if you're doing brilliantly.
I'm sending a hug. It would be a dress and a bottle of wine if it could!

Sammy big hugs....sounds like you are having a bad day. I suggest having a quick cry/moan/whinge here with us then getting back to business and enjoying your daughter's big day tomorrow :O)

She won't go the the ball without a dress...somehow it will come together.

I have no idea what you mean with the mortgage protection but it sounds complicated! Regards the bank charges - have you read the article on the main page about reclaiming bank charges? I am not sure if you have looked into this already but the thread is very clear and easy to follow.

    Good luck

I so wish I could help with the dress, Someone was asking to borrow a prom dress on freecycle this week. Could you try that ? Freecycle news letters go out daily i think so maybe its not too late.

    Good luck

    Hi,

Where in the country do you live? Maybe someone will then see this and be able to lend you a dress?

I bought my prom dress myself, got it in a sale for £5 and I was chuffed to little fairy cakes.

Why not have a whizz round the charity shops tomorrow, and then jazz up a nice dress you find with some beads, ribbon etc? I own a wool shop and the amount of teens I've had in recently for habby to 'update' stuff they've got at charity shops is unreal! It seems to be the fashion at the moment to customise stuff, bit of trimming here, ribbon sash there and voila, you will go to the ball! Check out some brand name sites and try and get some ideas off there.

Besides, the dress might arrive tomorrow!
This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
