flu jabs

One thing that is not mentioned enough is the importance of keeping clean and avoiding the spread of flu rather than vaccinating from flu. A computer keyboard can have more bacteria than a toilet seat so as you sit typing do you realise you could be spreading flu? .The best thing to do is use a dry on contact spray on your keyboard and on light switches.
That way you can avoid contracting Flu and should not have a probelm if you decide to have the jab
Keep surfaces clean using 'anti-bacterial sprays'
How does an anti bacterial kill a virus then?
In answer to the OP question, no they do not need a flu jab (the flu jab will not stop you getting the flu but will help stop it being so severe for people with lowered immune systems such as missing spleens) or any jab if travelling from the UK to the USA, they do need to complete the online visa waiver form (ESTA) tho.0 -
The other thing not commonly advertised about the seasonal "flu jab" is that it is a guess on the most likely flu strain to be common in any given year.
If the department of health get it wrong then it does !!!!!! all in protecting people.0 -
The swine flu jab wont be available until after 19 october. it is only available to patients between 6 months and 65 years in certain at risk groups, including those with asthma, copd, heart disease, patients with low immunity, cva, etc. it is then going to be offered to pregnant women, then those who live with patients who are immuno suppressed, then over 65's in the at risk groups.
If you dont fall into one of these categories, then you wont qualify for a jab. So I dont see how you can be refused entry to the US if you arent one of the people who can have it!!!
The normal flu jab is available to buy from several places, INCLUDING Boots, Asda, Morrisons etc.
Personally, I wouldnt have a jab that hasnt been tested properly yet, who knows what the long lasting effects might be!

I don't think he has to, only if he's in an "at risk" group. I am, and it serves me right for never getting one done, cos now I've probably got a low dose of it. That or piggy flu.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

got mine @ my local Sainsburys pharmacy on Friday . advertised at £12 but they have discounted it to £8
£8 to avoid feeling like death and having anything up to a month off work seems like a good deal to me .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

We were winding my youngest up saying that there weren't going to be enough H1N1 jabs for everyone so she wouldn't get it (doesn't sound good but at the time it was just banter. . .) Anyway she's got a date for hers at the end of the month. She's 'at risk' apparently because she was prem. I have to laugh - she's the fittest of the bunch, strong as an ox, and hasn't seen a doctor for at least 4 years.
I'm not sure about it - any advice?One life.0 -
