Correct me if I am wrong, but the reason for a strike is to cause as much disruption as possible to cause sweaty armpits at head office so that they cave in with demands.
It would be a pretty pi$$ poor strike if they delivered the mail whilst striking.
Mail hostage situation - love it.
lol very true, im just wondering what will happen to my love film rentals lol! not exactly the end of the worldBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -

OP have you been to the sorting office?0

No, I dont think this is theft but I have had a lot of problems with Royal Mail - there was a period where I couldn't order anything off the internet without it going missing. I had to make sure everything was sent recorded delvery or it dissappeared. I complained to Royal Mail but they didn't seem to do anything. Now they are on strike causing major difficulties for some - probably best to aviod if possible.0

Thank you for all the sarcasm.
I was sent something of sentimental value from family overseas, and they do have a proof of postage, and I've never had post from home not arrive.
Then you've been lucky. My family are also overseas. They send me stuff, I send them stuff. Sometimes it gets through, sometimes it doesn't. The risk that items may go astray is pretty obvious.
It's the sender who should initiate the enquiry. It doesn't become a Royal Mail problem until/unless it's established that it reached Royal Mail. Reasonable enough.0 -
If Royal Mail has a package of mine, of value (a present from a family member) but they don't deliver it because they are striking, what are my rights? Can I charge RM with theft?
This doesn't seem fair or right. It should have arrived two weeks ago.
J.H. Christ.
Yes you can charge RM with theft. Just take out a private prosecution and, in a few months when you are several thousand pounds lighter, you may realise just what a berk you've been.0 -
not in this instance technically but there are so many instances where theft goes on in the R M. In addition to experiences over the years,I am sure that when I sent my OH 30 identical cards one after the other and he didnt get them or when I posted him parcels and he didnt get them or last years xmas and birthday cards that never arrived or this weekend when the halloween card I sent him will prob go missing there is some theft going on at his end or at least theft by non delivery ie like those rm staff who keep letters in their homes etc.Bills always get to him, nothing else does.theft, dear lord
FYi for those who deny there can be instances of theft in the RM. (i know frompast postings we have several posties here who go ballistic at any implication) may I remind you that at the moment Royal Mail is staffed by humans and as such are susceptible to human fault, error or less than exemplary behaviour. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
same here I have had a lot of issues with those and as they are based in Peterborough have had things take 2 weeks to reach me. I think i will call them as a national strike could affect their business and I may then cancel my account if they do not make other decent provisions.4743hudsonj wrote: »lol very true, im just wondering what will happen to my love film rentals lol! not exactly the end of the worldWhat Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
It's a sign that Christmas is coming - the turkeys have voted - they would send a suicide note, but it wouldn't get there !0
