Jesus,
All this talk of "fraud" and "proceeds of crime" is making me look like some form of bloody criminal !!!
I think I will take BarclaysManager advice and persue a Subject Access Request.... at least then I MAY get to know.0 -
Unfortunately i think thats the only way you will find out if its related to fraud.
If you feel strongly been treated badly by Lloyds, then best to get the ball rolling by writing them a letter outlining the circumstances. If it is not resolved, which will take months to reach a deadlock, then complain to FOS.0 -
Hello dear, its same to me as well they closed my account as well i have this account for more then 8 years and no reason they told me.
what have you done against them some one asked me i should write to FSA and report them for not giving any reason.

Sue them for what? The bank has done nothing wrong. They are fully entitled to withdraw banking facilities for any customer if they choose to, and they do not have to give a reason. Compensation for what exactly?
As for complaining to the FSA - why would they care?
shanuk20 - I wouldn't waste your time, the bank does not have to give a reason and you complaining will not change that0 -
Just noticed this post is 2 years old - I need to remember to check them as people seem to be dragging them up lately!0

Not quite. The FOS article states this....
"But they should not decide to close an account for an improper reason – for instance, because of unfair bias or unlawful discrimination"
So "no reason" would indeed be grounds for a FOS referal (because the grounds cannot be determined). And an "improper reason" could result in an upheld complaint.
Of course, likely there is a "valid" reason which is not being explained because of bank customer contempt.0 -

We as a customer are happy to close our account with the bank but we do not like it if they decide to close it. As a past employee of what was Lloyds Bank they never took the decision lightly. Also in those days it could be done at branch by a PROPER bank manager.
Also we only hear one side of the story and no doubt when the decision is taken it is for a very, very good reason.0
