I didn't think a DMP would be reasonable duration. I'm not really scared of bankruptcy, only of losing my home - for the kids sake. This is my only fear with bankruptcy. Or that we will go BR and still struggle horribly just to survive. Does the BR board have plenty info for Scotland? Thank you for all of your advice, I really do appreciate your honesty and taking your time to help me.

Pop over to the BR board, there are a few people who have gone through a Scottish BR who will be able to help.

This is a link to a sticky at the top of the BR board, 2nd post deals with Scotland.

    That is not right.

    87095-86699 = 396 x 13p = £51.48.

I'm not sure about the price per kWh now, it's not 13p that other bill was old and they did write to me saying they were putting their prices up. I wanted to change supplier but can't with arrears. I'm not sure, I closed the bill down and have logged in and out a million times, I can double check price per KwH tomorrow - but that was copied and pasted so figures are correct.

My leccy bills were never a problem until those huge estimates, even after I gave an accurate reading and they updated the old estimates still stood they said. So it seems I have no choice but to continue paying the agreed amount per month until they decide to change it. Out of interest can anyone tell me what they pay per month for a 4 bed house (terraced) gas and elec per month? It may help to know what is reasonable.

    Not to 61p/KWh though.

No, I think it was about 16p. Is the extra carried over from a previous bill? This is why I am in debt, I have no idea.

I have a 3 bed detached (with heated conservatory ) keeping the main house at 20 deg 24/7 and pay £110 mth for both. That is using about 27000 KWh gas and 4000 KWh electric per year. You will see from my location I am in the cold parts, currently 4.8deg outside.
  • Just a couple of thoughts -

If you want to speak to a free, independent debt advice agency in Scotland, the link here can help you find one in your area. You may need to wait for an appointment though as they are all likely to be busy.

Has your husband considered seeing if he can get the court order for maintenance varied so he can pay less?

Hi little miss skint hope you are doing ok and you are feeling encouraged by knowing you are not the only one in a bad situation. This forum is very good for moral support aswell as advice.

I was thinking about Christmas and you saying you really wanted for your kids to have a good one and i guess you are meaning spending lots of money on them...and you may not agree but little children what they really really want at christmas and at any other time is just love and attention from the two most important people in their lives, their mum and dad spending time with them and focussing on them and showing them how much their mum and dad love each other and are happy being together and how much they love them too.

When my daughter was little she very easily got bored with expensive presents (usually by about one hour after receiving them!) but would NEVER EVER get bored spending time with me even if we were just talking or colouring in together or doing dot to dot or dressing up or reading a book or baking some buns or just something like that. That's how they have a good time at their age, you can't make them more happy than the happiness they get from getting attention from you. Stop focussing on how much money you can spend on them it really isn't important at their age. Why don't you just ask them on Christmas Day what they would like to do and just do that even if they just want to do face painting all day or baking or whatever and just do that. even if you are totally bored you will have made them extremely happy that you will do what they want all day and give them your full attention.
  • Hello,Just wanted to say that I was in your position 4 months ago, huge debts, mortgage arrears lost my job and OH really didnt know how bad the situation was so I done a really awful thing and ran away.A coward I know but I could not handle the situation anymore, OH wanted me back(thank god) and we faced up to it and sorted it out together,we went to citizens advice for debt and they were wonderful they sorted everything.Went to shelter for help with the house,as we had received an eviction notice, they came to court with us and have helped us every step of the way,we are still in the house and now paying reduced mortgage thanks to them.So I just wanted to say that I know how you feel but please believe me there are people out there who will help you, they helped me.I am starting to breathe again and it feels good, you will to soon.Best of luck and hang on in there xx:hello:
