Cap One are horrible to deal with  I missed one payment with them (well, I was a week late....which I'd pre-warned them that this was going to happen!!) They rang me every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times, to badger me into paying!! I kept saying I've already told you when I will pay this but apologise for it being late!! One woman that rang was so disrespectful to me, I felt like I'd commited a serious crime  I just said, I'm sorry but you can't get blood out of a stone!!!!!
I owe them about 6k on my cc.......I can't wait for it to be paid off (might take me a few years like) but that's it with them then. My card is now cut into tiny tiny pieces.....felt liberated when I did that!! I will never reccomend them to anyone!!!

Same here - I've cleared my debt with Crapital None now, and will not go back to them under ANY circumstances - now avoid them like the plague. They were a nightmare to deal with when had balance outstanding.0 -
Hi
Well, Capital One have phoned me yet again. I reminded the wee man that they had had the letter from the beginning of September clearly stating that they should only contact me by letter.
So, that's 8, 9, 19, 20, 26 October they have phoned. The wee man stated that it didn't matter that I'd sent the letter in I still needed to speak to them about an urgent matter. Told him, that no I wasn't going to answer his security questions so he'd just need to write to me. Then he said that was may be but Capital One would continue to phone me.
Does anyone have a fax number for Capital One Managing Director? Think I'll send him a fax or give them his number to call!!
LGetting there, slowly but I WILL be debt free before I retire :dance:0 -

I had a debt with Capital One, they were phoning me up to 8 times a day, once at my work, which is an emergency NHS department. I was boiling!
The debt went to a DCA so I have since written a letter to them saying I`ll pay half what I`m due them (£360) to clear the debt, but only if they remove the default. Otherwise it`ll be £1 a month.0 -
I'm having the same trouble with Egg, they are calling me up to 10 times aday. I've written to them asking them to only contact me in writing which so far they haven't going to write again now. FORMAL COMPLAINT26 October 2009
Dear Sirs,
Harassment by telephone
Account Number: *****
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I receive from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
Having received my initial letter dated 24 September 2009 which was sent recorded delivery, you have continued this harassment. To date I have received phone calls to my place of employment on 8, 9, 19, 20, and 26 October. There have also been numerous silent calls which I can only assume are from your call centre.
This continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 and also in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127.
Unless you desist this harassment forthwith I see no alternative other than to report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Yours sincerelyGetting there, slowly but I WILL be debt free before I retire :dance:0 -
When I USED to get calls all the time, I had fun with them by asking if they knew who they were phoning. they said yes, so I then said I didn't have to confirm who I was then. My record was 22 minutes with Capital One. When the phone monkey said "were just going round in circles here", I said yes - AND its your phone bill AND whilst with me youre not bullying someone less informed. Double whammy I think!lmclean100 wrote: »You made me think of a cunning plan;). Next time they phone, I think I'll put them on hold for a while and then when I go back to them just not answer the security questions. After all it's their phone bill.
As they say revenge is a dish best served cold.

On a more serious note, please search and use all the templates on here to remind these callers that they must only contact you in writing. It will work in the end.0 -
Ok , next time they call, tell them that you are recording the conversation for your own security, ( this must be stated at the start of the call ) they may argue that this will not stand up in a court of law , just ignore . Ask for the name of the person you are speaking to , and reiterate that you DO NOT wish to be contacted by telephone. Its worked so far for me .;)0

they could always contact you, or you contact them via the personal message system online, if your registered for online accounts. if you cant log in, then the account must be closed so you get your answer!
