I have just had a conversation with the Head of children and families about the correct protocol for tracing birth fathers, and she didn't seem to know either, so I appear to be in good company!
I agree that the internet is not secure, but as I haven't named anyone, didn't see the harm in asking the question. (I did only ask for websites, if you remember, not individual's addresses!)
This seems quite odd, even if you work for a very small LA. Your Director of Social Services will have details of protocols and processes as they have ultimate responsibility for child protection.0 -
I would start with local telephone directories and then check if there are any local community websites with chatboards and people search areas. As you haven't said exactly why or for whom you are doing the search, other possibilities might be limited. Maybe it would be worth while to contact an adoption agency and talk to someone who works there and see if they can help you out (providing your'e only looking for a few people). If you catch them on a good day, they might be willing to help and they surely have access to easier ways to track people down.0

Yup, I think you can get it from PC World. It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -

The central theme appears to be a local authority employee seeking advice from a public forum on a child protection issue, as opposed to them discovering their employee's protocols, policies and procedures on adoption and complying with them.
If anyone for important and urgent family reasons wishes to contact a relative in the UK they have lost touch with whom they have been unable to track down using any means they can, I have been told the Salvation Army would forward correspondence to the 'missing' person under an agreement they have with Department of Work and Pensions. This agreement may still be in place

My dad got a copy of it as a cover disk on a magazine a while ago (2001 or 2002 version?) so there must be cheap/free versions out there.
As a side note b4usearch.com's data is not only out of date but also illegal. The information commissioner's office will probably take them to court as they've already served them with the first ever website enforcement notice. Which I know personally they have not complied with."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

b4usearch is not functioning at the moment - you are invited to search, only then to see an excuse + links to paid for electoral roll sites.0
