Thank you all so much for your kind words and stories.
Lady died on Wednesday. My OH took the day off work to look after her, she had stopped eating and drinking the night before. I came home early and we made the heartbreaking decision to PTS. The vet agreed to come to us for 7pm. At 6.55pm she snuggled up to my OH and slipped away so very peacefully. It was almost as if she knew, and being as stubborn as she was, decided she was going her way!
We had her cremeted and have kept her ashes. We are going to buy a small shrub and plant it in the garden where the sun shines in the afternoon and sprinkle her ashes there - her favourite place to be.
The last few days have been very sad but now we are remembering the goods times we had with her, her cheekiness, the fact she thought she was a dog! and the unconditional love she gave us both. xx

Your post brough tears to my eyes. :( If you read online or ask in the garden centre you might find a RHS Award of Garden Merit shrub with the same name as your Lady.

I'm so very sorry to hear that Lady has gone. But what a beautiful way she chose to go.

    RIP Lady xxx
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

    Fatpants,
I am so sorry to hear of Lady's passing.Me 14 year old puss,Orbit, died at the beginning of September of exactly the same thing,He lost his appetite too & was very weak.
He too passed away about an hour before I had decided to take him to the vets.
He's buried in his blanket in a wood box in the back garden in a spot that'll become a rose bed.
One of the best things I did was immidiatly go & get another cat from ASSISI Animal Sancturary.I believe that this has helped me get over Orbit.
    Best wishes.

That's such a nice idea - my friend did that when she lost her cat, Tiggy. I couldn't do that with Spook, as only have a patio garden, but she used to love lying on the desk when my OH was on the computer, so we had a mousemat made with her picture on it.

We used to think that with Spook - she was the most un cat-like cat I have ever known!

    I'm sorry for your loss.
