Appeal against the NO decisions you've already had.....get copies of your credit files & see whats putting them off...somethings not right thats for sure because all basic accounts are I.D checked (on the electoral role?) the only other thing is CIFAS (fraud) markers...We all die. Hi John, I filed bankruptcy in Feb 09 and my accounts at Barclays were frozen. I acquired a cashminder account over the phone with co-op and I informed them I was bankrupt, so cant see that there should be a problem. I also have a debit card with account. Hope info helps xx0

I'm guessing here, but I don't think you have applied for the Cashminder account with the Co-Op, this is the only account Co-Op will give to Bankrupts.0
-
Yeh just looked now and yes it was a cashminder.

Yorkshire BUILDING Society will open a savings account for bankrupts, you can apply online too.0

As philnicandamy has said, do check your credit files. The only plausible reason for a decline on a cashminder account would be a CIFAS warning (unless co-op were one of your creditors). I have known CIFAS warnings to have been applied wholly inapropriately without the persons knowledge.BSC 2710

Hi John,
CIFAS is the UK's main fraud prevention data collator. It collects reports from members (banks, building societies, loan companies etc) of fraudulent activity, and makes this available to the likes of Experian & Equifax.
When a lender reports fraudulent activity, they will do so under a particular "reason", and this will be recorded (via CIFAS) on the applicants credit file. For instance, you could have a fraud warning which states "applicants identity correct but one or more application detail believed to be fraudulent" or similar. I can't remember the exact number of "reasons", but there are a few.BSC 2710 -
How do i know if it is on my file? equifax? would i be able to get it removed or is it another problem to contend with, if i have one that is.
