You sound like me......when you want something done you take drastic action, but i dont think putting lots of drill holes in a circle would let you knock out the middle bit, and a normal drill wouldnt go right threw a brick, you need one of those massive drill bits and they dont make small holes believe me:o Probably best to call out an odd job man who will do it really cheaply for you, probably cost the same as buying the big long drill bitsblushingbride wrote: »surely i can make a circle of drill holes & then knock the middle out?0 -
I was £60 for a builder to come in and drill my foot thick granite wall through, and cement in the pipe and an outside cowl. Okay, it was about 15 years ago now but there's no way i'd have managed on my own.
Maybe it's worth getting a quote from someone.0 -
£44 plus vat or £60 for a builder :rotfl::rotfl:
Go with drilling some holes in a circle , and bashing with a club hammer .
Yes it will take a bit of time .
But you will save £44+/ £600 -
It will depend what the wall is made of - I have a tumble dryer vent going through a cavity wall made of thermalite blocks - chappie drilled that hole fairly easily with a hole saw attachment on a drill.
I now want to make a hole in a solid external wall, 9" of solid brick - this thread is making me think it's perhaps a job best not started.0 -
9" of solid brick
Do you really mean that . Or is it more likly to be a 9 inch wall which includes a cavity.
Will admit there is some hard bricks out there , but also a lot of common flettons
which will smash
with a few holes and a club hammer hitting a boster. 0 -
Our walls were foot thick granite blocks.0

You are the exception . There are not many houses built that way .
I will guess that the OP will not have that sort of problem.0 -

Sadly I do! "Solidly built" is a phrase I've heard applied to this house
.
I might get the courage up to at least give it a go though - of course, it would be very disapointing if someone with a name like Wallbash wasn't encouraging us to bash holes in walls!:rotfl:0
