Some time after 2011that was Brit when he claimed 50% price drops from peak by Christmas 2009!! :rotfl:
What would of stopped the falls without the drop in interest rates to 0.5 and the printing though? I don't think he would of been that far out if the government had not jumped in to devalue the £ and hold house prices near peak. Anyone not in GBP has had about a 40%-50% drop if buying into the UK housing market so it seems the drops are there, just not for anybody holding GBP. Or am I far out?0 -
Might be a bit up and down, but should be back by the end of 2010Quite a desperate & nasty piece of work arn't you?
Not really - carolt was defending the BNP on a recent thread attacking gypsies (now deleted) so this poster deserves everything they get, particularly if they are a racist.
I reserve a certain level of attack for racists0 -

you're spot on. for me it was never going to work that way - but think of it this way.
if a house was on fire do you think the fire brigade would start dealing with it 20 minutes after they should have started extinguishing the fire. the obvious answer is no, they would deal with it when it was safe to do so otherwise there would have been no house left.
going back to the what the government has done - with regards to the government actions i don't know the side effects that will surprise us in the future but what they did stopped a potential disaster that would have haunted us for generations.0 -

Some time after 2011I think I am rich because I have a house.
Why do people always assume that the only wealth that a house creates is equity?!?!?
I like that comment - it is about having a home after all.
However, I wonder whether, when people say "it's cheaper to own my house than rent it" they are just comparing the market rental cost and mortgage payment. Rather than factoring in the extortionate costs of buying and selling, the useless HIPS, maintenance and repairs, mortgage arrangement fees, the possibility of having to rent and the costs of storage between buying and selling if the completion dates don't match up, buildings insurance et al?
While I have twice enjoyed the cosy glow of 'owning' a house I'm under no illusion about the financial benefits or otherwise, nor did I imagine I owned the house. Only when you've paid off the mortgage do you own a house.0 -

Never ever everI don't give a damn what people think about my views on house prices, but I very much give a damn about racism and that kind of personal abuse I will not stand for.0
