I made bread:j:j:j:j:j

It looks like a proper loaf:D

I've only made it once before & it was like a brick:o:o:o

I'm so proud:p

I bought a Panisonic SD255, after reading the reviews on here.

The hole in the bottom from the paddle is tiny & nothing to worry about (I was worried this would spoil the loaf).

I did a rapid loaf because I couldn't wait to see it:o

I got some of that Doves farm yeast, is that a good one for this machine?
Wheres the cheapest place to get strong flour?
Or should I not get the cheapest? Do flours vary? Shame on me:o, I don't even know the answer to that:o

Well done on your bread making :T

I love HM the best. I once forgot to defrost some buns I'd made so popped to shop one morning to buy a loaf for packed lunches.

That evening my oh said I'd spoiled him too much, and he said he could only eat one and told me not to buy anymore (said he'd rather not having any).

No idea about bread machines though but someone will come along I'm sure who knows.

I've been known to eat it straight out of my oven with butter on so it melts (yummy), but I think it can give you stomach ache (got told this once, don't know how true it is) I've never had this though! Have burnt me fingers and mouth a few times, but hot bread is so delicious I can't resist.

    I cut a slice.

    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Its so good.

I reckon it will save me a fortune, as I won't pop in for bread & spend £20 anymore:rolleyes:

I love walnut bread, I must try this.

The flour I used this time was Allinsons.

I use Sainsburys strong bread flour. And Hovis yeast. They seem to be a good combination to me at least and I never have a bad loaf, unless I forget to put the paddle in.
I buy pumpkin seeds, sesames seeds and sunflower seeds and put a big serving spoonfull in with the wholewheat recipe. My lot love it and won't eat bought bread any more. Anyway it turns out similar to Warburtons seeded batch, which is what I used to buy, but at about a quater of the price.
I just noticed on Grabbit that someone had posted that the Panasonic was £69 at Argos.

Bread makers are great and the bread is so much tastier than shop bought I own a Kenwood bought in the sale for £25.00 years ago. I normally buy Morrisons own brand strong & wholemeal flour and Hovis yeast in the sachets. Sorry can't help regarding the Dove's farm yeast although I have heard that you can request fresh yeast from the supermarket bakery's for free. Sometimes I will purchase the small packs of bread mix with herbs and tomatoes for a change and usually works out half the price of the shop bought. Have made different fruit breads in mine and they have turned out lovely with loads of real butter on them.

I use Morisons own strong white. Wholemeal Hovis was on offer at Tescos but not sure if it still is.
I make mine by hand and unless theres an emergency, wont go back to shop bought!

Yes the Dove's yeast in orange pack is good and very economical, seems to last for months. I buy Waitrose own strong wholemeal and strong white and also their own make "granary" (though they're not allowed to call it that because apparently Hovis hold the trademark) in a dark blue pack. Not the cheapest no doubt but I've never had a problem with them (except, as someone else has said, when I've left the paddle out:eek:, not a pretty sight when you open it up).

You must try the spiced fruit loaf although the one in the SD255 recipe booklet is different from the one in the SD253 (the latter not containing egg or milk) and therefore you can set it to timed overnight and wake up to the most delicious smell:j. Let me know if you want the eggless recipe.

I even take a couple of loaves away when we go camping (wish I could take the BM!) and it's awful when we run out and have to buy it. I am amazed at the price of bread. Enjoy.
