Please do you know whats wrong with my Micra?

My back window windscreen wipers and the heatlng elements on the back window are not working :-(

I had to drive home real carefully today as with was cold and wet.

I am getting checked out soonest but would like to have an idea first. Beadles -Nissan has asked for £43 to do the initial investigation.

I think I will go with my reliable local garage instead but would like to have and I need- I don't need any more surprises right now!

As they're both not working it sounds like an electrical issue. Could simply be a fuse, or possibly a relay. The fuse should be easy to check and described in the owners manual. Having never looked inside a micra I can't tell you where anything is though unfortunately.

Another possibility is wires between the car and tailgate have become damaged through chaffing (which I think would lead to the fuse blowing too). So check the fuse first!

did you reverse all the way home?

  • Lol! I didnt reverse- My back windows were all fogged up. I had to rely on my side mirrors.

I'm still a bit of a new-ish driver, so it wasn't real pleasant for me.

Thanks anewman- I will look in the manual for the fuses etc.

    ^^

Im with him, i rarely need to look what is behind me..

For more help, i would register on this forum and ask them.

Its all about micras.. - http://www.micra.org.uk/forums.php

Though i either suspect a fuse inoperative, or the connetor for the tailgate has come off somewhere..

use your wing mirrors more often, they are more useful than the rear view mirror.

if the fuses are ok then as omega says have a look at the electrical connection going to the tailgate, also make sure none of the wires have broken where they enter the chanel inside the tailgate,it might be covered by a rubber gromit and with all the opening and closing over the years the wires could have snapped.
i doubt the rear demister and rear wiper motor are through the same fuse, but i could be wrong.

A pound to a pinch of pic s$#t it will be broken wires where they bend near the hatchback hinges, in the black rubber tube. I had similar issues last year, not difficult to repair but splice in good flexable wire not the stiff stuff Nissan use!

Whats wrong with your micra? It's far too small :rotfl:

On a more serious note it does sound electrical and should be fairly straightforward to fix. Micras are reliable little things, and they don't cost much to repair as they only tend to get small issues!
