Well, it was a miserable existance.

Thankfull the job I have doesnt require a great deal of physical excertion.

If I was a man digging holes in the road I would have been dead.

Its not something I would wish to repeat in a hurry, but I was in a hole and had to find serious ways of getting out of it. Drastic measures sometimes have to be put up with to get things sorted out.

I would like to say however that my stomach churns at the thought of eating a packet of those 9p asda noodles!

Yes, I can imagine it makes you feel a bit eurgh. Kids - dont try this at home! :p Thats quite a sad story borders, or maybe i'm being too sensitive - but thanks or sharing.

    Hi Tinuel,
I don't know if this interests you and it's probably getting a bit late in the month to do it but have you thought of party plan?
I currently work with The Body Shop at Home and sales this time of year literally soar! I think more than anything it's down to it's products - smellies and gift sets, basically something for everyone. It is 40 pound for your kit so maybe defeats the object a little but I earned 170 with my 2 parties last week - that's earnings not sales so it is possible :)
    Just a thought :)
Good luck - let us all know how you're doing :)

  • i would of thought the easiest way to get 1000 was to open a bank account with a&l this will give you £150 for switching direct debits and raf or cashback. They will give you up to £2500 overdraft interest free for a year. This will give you a year then to raise the money the rest of the £850. you could chip away at this every month or go down the match betting or avon route.

Ok, I agree that it's getting too late to raise £1000, but I will turn this into a challenge to raise the maximum possible, let's do it, starting from last week:

    Week 1 - 5th October till 11th October
Ebay: 3 African masks, current bid £25 each
    Overtime at work: £250 guaranteed

    Target: £1000
    Week 1: £325, £675 to go

Hey well done Tinuel - what a fab attitude :)
You've actually got me thinking about doing the same thing but I won't include my normal day job - just my Body Shop business :)
Will keep you up to date - anybody else fancy the challenge? We could all keep each other going and be a bit richer for Xmas :D

Great idea, maybe I could rename the thread...

  • MBNA have various deals going at the mo; one is a balance transfer into your own current account. 4% transfer fee but 0% interest for 1 year (I think). Am told it's a general offer so if you already have an MBNA credit card that could get you out of the problem; if not, why not apply for one?

They're also running 6.9% interest for life of balance transfers subject to 3% transfer fee and 0% interest on purchases until Feb or May 2010 depending whether you buy pre/post 16 October 2009

Just spent a long time on the phone to them so hope I've got those deals correct.

Yes this sounds like a good idea - I'd love to do it, but i'm currently going down the route of saving money rather than raising it. (my weakness is spending way too much on crap that I dont need)

I think that the people who do this will find it a real support - if you've commited to updating this weekly then you're more likely to stick to it. Also everyone will have the support of each other - brilliant!
