which canon ixus? 95 or 100??

95i am after a new digital camera to replace my broken old sony! im down to two and was wondering if anyone had any experience with either and would reccomend one!!

nikon s620 or pentax p70, both are listed on argos! dont know how to post links!

Have a look at the Canon IXUS range. I have the 850IS (which is about 2-3 years old). I created a 80 page picture book with the quality of the pictures that my wife and took on holiday (that book contained close to 400 pictures). I love the camera and the settings. Never have had an issue... but I am now using the much larger SLR camera.

I have seen people say the new IXUS 95 IS is brilliant. And it is cheaper than the Nikon s620 (bonus!).

If you are interested... have a look for camerabox in google. They have it for £139.99 (plus £8 p&p). You may be able to find it cheaper.

Another vote for Canon, weve had a few cameras over the years and the Canons produce far better pictures than same priced nikons.

Billy - I then went and bought a Nikon SLR....! But for compacts, I have to agree... I love the Canons.

For the £150 mark nothing will beat the Canon Ixus 95. Discount both your original choices, it's a fantastic camera, and wins all the awards.

The Canon I have now beats the Nikon I used to have, hands down any day. Much better photo quality, better night time pictures and less colour distortion caused by the flash.

thanks for al ur imput everyone, its helping in a way and confusing even more!!! haha!!!

ive had a look at the canon, cheapest i can find is £144.00. wanted to spend maybe a little less, cos im rather good at dropping cameras!!
found a samsung st50 on play.com for £119.00 and amazon is selling it for £183.29. seems a bargain.

anyone any experience?.. seems to have all the latest things for a camera, smile detection and all that jazz!

also found the pentax p70 for £109.99 and the nikon s620 for £129.00 both these seem bargain too!!!

If price is the main driver, then find the cheapest quality camera... not just the cheapest camera.

Unfortunately, I haven't looked at compact cameras in a while... so I cannot give advice. Have you looked on Which and dpreview (for reviews)?

I know it's another £20 or so on some of the cameras you mentioned, but have a look at the Canon IXUS 95. 42% discount on Amazon. Only in the shops about 8 months too.

If you quite like to drop them, make sure you get a good case for it too!
