MESH computers - order one thing, receive another

Ordered this (LG GGC-H20L): http://shop.meshcomputersownersclub.com/browse/product_details.php?id=157

specifically wanted this model as HD DVD drives are hard to come by these days.

Received this (Lite-On iHES106):

Spec at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106270
Looks like a pretty craptastic drive too.

Phoned customer services, explained problem. (received completely different make/model and which doesn't play HD-DVDs) Was transferred to technical support as was told the drive I received is "the same" and CS advisor implied I need some "help" setting it up. Hung up.

Phoned back, explained problem again to someone else. Put on hold for ages. Told they need to "verify" with tech support that it is the wrong drive then they will call me back and arrange a "collect and replace".

The Lite-On drive is not even listed for sale on their website which leads me to think they are just sending out a similar drive to the LG one listed and hoping no-one notices/cares. No note of a change or a replacement is listed on the invoice.

Still waiting for phonecall... which I should "definitely" receive this afternoon....

  • *UPDATE*

    08/10

Didn't get a call back from CS the previous day, so phoned them again.
Finally spoke to someone a bit more competent, she told they had sent out the Lite-on as an 'upgrade' as the LG wasn't in stock. I questioned why they had not bothered to inform me beforehand to see if I wanted the 'upgrade' (which has less features than the drive I ordered), she just said she "didn't know why". Was then told they'd arrange a collection and give me a full refund. Good.

Got a call later from someone else and had to explain the problem again, then was told they'd send out a returns label in the post.

Also sent an email that day to them expressing my displeasure and mentioning trading standards, I didn't get a reply.

Returns label arrived in the post, along with a letter that said I had to phone (again) to arrange a courier to pick up the parcel.
Phoned them, arranged collection at the earliest possible date: Thursday.

    15/10
DPD courier picked up the parcel.

    16/10
Return showing as delivered on DPD website.

As of today, no refund to speak of...

Wouldn't touch Mesh with a barge pole. Their customer service is non existent, onsite warranty doesn't mean anything, repair centre don't seem to know how to put computers together. Parents originally had a burnt out graphics card. 9 months later (between them installing other hardware worse than the last) they bought one themselves and I installed it. Covers hundreds of separate incidents with them (e.g. pc returned one time with coffee spilled over it).

I can be a moaning git at times but it's no exaggaration that Mesh are my all time worst company I've ever come across personally.

Not that I need a copy of Cyberlink BD Solution, but if I did, I know where to get a legit product key from :):)

    Geology,

This thread will show up now in google in a few weeks under MESH. It might even be higher in the search listings, so be careful what you post & say.

    I hope so. I don't have to be careful what I say. ;) :

MESH are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Things were NEVER actually resolved with them. I tell anyone and everyone I know who even thinks about a new PC or looking at MESH to stay well clear (most people I know tend to ask my opinion first on anything technical/pc related anyway).
