The only reason you are not married is because your partner has never asked you - despite you really really wanting him to. Its been so long now that you have convinced yourself of what you typed. The reality is, your bloke doesn't want to commit to you in case he finds someone/something better.

    You know its true.
My "bloke" is a gorgeous woman which I am now going to bed with. I think she probably needs some reassurance that I'm going to stay with her, you know...... after two kids, owning a house together, 10 years of happy friendship and love

So, yeah, I know it's true.

    kn0b

Sorry to bring the thread down again after a couple of pages of everyone trying to be funny. :D
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

I think it pays to be cynical on the internet. however, with being too wary in life one becomes isolated, there is always the danger that those you ''feel'' comfortble with and communicate with privately re not who they appear to be :( I doubtless get the balance wrong often, but we can only do our best.
    :)

Nah, I have plenty of friends. You fell into a networker, fake it till you make it (aka Tony Blair) type, so just happened to get questioned a bit more than most. Some on here are probably surprised at how honest I am.

I am indeed a networker. I think it helps put things/people together, and I'm glad when it works. Fake it till you make it is a good phrase, but best applied to confidence IMO, not things like qualifications/experience.

BTW was not saying you didn't have friends. was saying the balance between being cynicle and being open is hard to strike. I find it hard on the internet. I was protesting last night you were a good egg and a nice guy.

ETA: also had plans to meet with Pobby and PN but dh made me cancel, after the NDG thing. He's a bit edgy about it all.
Branded an Internet pest and potential danger :(
    Oh the shame.

It must be the "loner" thing ... ever notice how serial killers and people who go postal are always described like that ... "he was a loner".
    Jeez... leave us loners alone.

yeah whatever. you know, we all know that she wants to get married, but you haven't had the decency to do it. she isn't going to make a fuss now, because she has waited so long - and if she threatens and makes a fuss, she will feel that she is "desperate". and if she walks away, she will be a single mother of two. very marketable!

No, you have sold her down the river, all because of your fear of commitment.

    Well done.

can you marry a blow up doll? I persume it would be the closest thing to human that could endure living with The_White_Horse

Funny that, I don't remember being desperate to marry before my OH proposed. I remember being rather surprised, really.

As a woman, not sure this 'all women want to do is get married' thing really rings true. Don't think I ever fantasised about rings or dresses as a little girl. Think the White Horse appears to be hailing from the 1950's. Sure my mum felt like that. :)
