We finally got an appointment to view today at 1pm but I found I was too scared to actually go and face the vendor and either her daughter or son again.

That speaks volumes in itself that you probably made the right decision. Funny how you were banned from talking to them but they can ring you......0 -
I think you've done the right thing Maggie. Good luck with finding a new house, which I'm sure you will and it will feel right and go smoothly.0

It's easy to say but I soooo think you have done the right thing :beer:0

Oh I am sorry to hear it has come to that for you but hopefully you can breath a big sigh of relief now and have fun searching for a new house with hopefully more accommodating vendors.
Good luck - keep us posted!Offer accepted - 4th JulyOwn sale completed - 5th September
Finally exchanged - 30th October :j:T:j
Completing on Friday 13th! :rotfl:0 -
Well done Maggie. Let's hope the vendors learn a lesson from this. It's an eye opener really the way property buying and selling has so many twists and turns. All the best in your search.0

Well done! As someone else has said - it's amazing that you were banned from contacting the vendors directly, but they think it is okay for them to contact you!
Some people are just weird.
I am a big believer in the saying 'everything happens for a reason'. I am sure there is a house out there that is just perfect for you. Take your time and have fun looking.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
So sorry Maggie. Good luck with looking for the next one - which I am sure will be even better! They sounded horrid - you are well rid of them.0

Just a bit of an update for you all.
Over the weekend we viewed 4 houses and went back to one of them. Made an offer, accepted, surveyor went in yesterday, had letter from EAs to say they will discontinue further viewings until we get our survey results. :j OH called our surveyor, who tells us it seems to be a good solid house, a few problems, but nothing we weren't expecting (rewire, double glazing at back, some damp but not a major problem, the roof is sound)
I really think this might be the one, but not counting any chickens yet.
Further to the last house - yesterday OH phoned the drains surveyor since we haven't had the survey or bill yet. In the post signed-for, but still no sign. We didn't want him to think we're slow payers. He also told OH something that made me hopping mad. When he did the survey the vendor was there, so he showed them the camera in action, including the roots going into the drains. Vendor then asked him if it was possible for him not to mention it to us!  Lets face it, what's the point of paying for a survey if you don't get the results!
So I feel much less guilty about pulling out of the purchase now!
Thanks for all the support,
Maggie0 -
Good that you've found a new place, fingers crossed all goes through ok!
Regarding the survey on the old place, sounds like you're well shot of it and all the hassles it brought! You definitely did the right thing in pulling out of that one.0
