Cheapest New Car

Hello,

I am in need of a brand new car, I currently use my mums, which she needs back, leaving me to get a new car.

I have been saving for a car but only managed to get £1000 together. I need a reliable car for work. Want to get a new one as my last one was a 6 months old, which everyone said will save money than buying new, apparently saved £3,000, but it was in the garage that much I had to get rid of it when warranty ran out, thus the reason I borrowed my mums car.

I have been looking at the Hyundai I10 (£7,400), Nissan Pixo (6,999), Suzuki Alto (£7,500) and Volkswagon Fox (£7,800)

Does anyone know of any more that I maybe missing, it has to be as cheap as possible really dont want to go over the £7,500 mark and I only have £1,000 to put down as a deposit. I dont really care what the car looks like or features as it is only for work, but reliable and cheap are the main factors. Oh and I dont have a 10 year old car to scrap either.

Thanks so much for your help.

My first though too, Fiat Panda is just a touch over £6500 until the end of December, it's ranking well in reliability surveys these days (much improved over past Fiat's), it's fun to drive (sister-in-law has one) and economical.

Kia Picanto to add to the list @£6495 ..possibly less for a no scrappage deal.

    Thought about personal leasing?
Looking at 3 months deposit 36 month deals
    Kia Picanto 1.0 1 £127.27 + VAT
Fiat Panda 1.1 Active Eco £114.44 + VAT

Change it for another at the end of the term so you always have warranty cover.
On a car of this value it's not much different from buying and selling over the same period unless you can buy for cash.
If you get a good one that doesn't hit you with bills for 10 years+ it will work out cheaper in the long run buying though.

Cheapest car in Briatin is the Perodua Kenari for £5499 I believe.

    http://www.whatcar.com/car-reviews/perodua/kenari-mpv/summary/23599-7

Pretty cack but it is cheap. Until recently they sold the Kelisa for £4250 brand new but semed to have dropped that.

BTW there's no guarantee that buying a brand new car will avoid problems.

Personally I'd go for a Kia Picanto or Hyundai i10.

EDIT: Just to say I've just seen you can get a Fiat Panda Active Eco for around £6000 so one of thos eowuld be a good option if you want to buy a car.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • Definitely go for the fiat panda! The i10 and picantos might be great but they've been wiped out by the scrappage, so unless you want to order one, i'd get the fiat :)

  • dont understand why it has to be new, was your last car really in the garage for 2.5 years?

some new cars come with 3/5/7 years warranty, so you can pick a good second hand car with lots of warranty left

Citroen C1 is a fantastic little car. Loads of room, nippy, 60 mpg and £30 road fund. 5 door is better than 3

if your going to trade your car in every 6 months then leasing might be your best option.
