Yet another example of someone asking a question and being a bit rude when the reply's aren't what they wanted to hear

Yep - some posters seem convinced that they must surely have a statutory right to return any advice they aren't satisfied with and demand a replacement. :D

John lewis are not as good as they used to be,but they grasped the nettle and sorted out the problem, end of problem.Waste of energy trying to achieve any more.

John Lewis are not as good as they used to be partly as a result of excessive demands and rudeness from customers who don't seem to appreciate excellent customer service when they get it.

Not sure that argument holds water.

There are shops with a hardnosed attitude towards customer complaints, where it can be hard for customers to get what they're entitled to under SOGA.

There are other shops who have a much more generous approach to resolving complaints.

The second approach costs more than the first approach. Therefore there's a tendency for the "good" shops to revise their practice and become more hardnosed and less helpful.

    That's what I mean.

I partly agree with you but there might be more to it.

I know from my own reactions that if I overreact or snap at people, often it's because I'm upset about something else. Probably would be even more so if a person was deeply unhappy about something that had happened in their life. It's not really about customer service, or an innocent well-intended remark on an internet forum.

Sorry if this is obscure but I see the OP has deleted their posts so I think I will leave it at that.
