I am being robbed by '3' help me to get out!

Hi

I have been a customer with 3 for nearly 2 years in August i took a new contract out with them. But to my horror i have no coverage they say i do but trust me i have none cant even send a text i have to go into the street!

I pay nearly £45 a month and i use my hubby's phone or the landline. There has got to be a clause or get out loop hole somewhere i am literally paying for fresh air!

When i renewed i didnt have a contract sent out to me but again they say i did. There must be something i can do?

You can try asking about the mast directly to 3.
But Three usually works best if you have 3g handset - if the handset is faulty in some way, you will get issues. You could have the handset looked at by your local store or have it sent away (maybe they could replace it).

Its hard to prove there is a reason for cancelling contract without proof - you will need to go through the above steps as a minimum. Just my opinion, others might disagree.

Have you tried swapping the sim back to your old phone to see if the coverage is better?
That would prove its a handset fault or not..
  • 3 say the mast is still there? Yeah my son has my old phone and he has similar problems, 3 said the phone quality has nothing to do with the network coverage. I feel like cause i dont know what i am talking about they just fob me off with the speech 'i am great network'

I would be happy if i could just make a call or text without having to stand in the street!

Could be a mast fault. They go down or on to low power sometimes. It could be powered down for maintenance or upgrade.
I would have though that someone at 3 would be able to see a system that gave the condition of their masts ?

Had a 3 mast with "issues" near me recently and they confirmed this on the phone, but as it was only a temporary problem just had to get on with it.

I think the phone itself makes a HUGE difference to the signal too, as i had a Sony Ericson that like you i had to stand out in the street with, so i borrowed a N97 and that was 100X better reception. Now i have a blackberry and my boyfriend has a samsung and we can put our phones next to each other and he'll have 1 bar/no reception and i will have full reception!

I'd give 3 another call and see if there is a mast issue in your area, or i think i read you can now check mast maintainace on their website.

If you have lost signal from an area you previously had signal, then i have seen people on these forums get the contracts cancelled by the operator as they are no longer providing the same service.
Whilst signal is not guaranteed, the fact that signal has now been lost is something else. Keep on at 3, as im sure they will know why.

As others say, try different handsets. Some handsets don't have 3g, and some much older sim cards don't support it. Although i doubt this will be the reason in your case.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
