Orange Retentions & O2 Pay as You Go Talkalot

Hi there.

My wife's been wanting to get a better deal on her mobile. She is currently with Orange and I think she has 60 Xnet mins and 80 texts for about £25ish. She really wants more texts and wants to get the monthly cost right down.

I have seen a really good deal with 02 which is a pay as you go offer. It is £10 a month min top up and you get 300 text messages free every month. I think that the £10 top up then covers the voice calls.

Can Orange retentions come anywhere close to this? I would doubt it as this is a pay as you go tariff. She would like to stay with Orange but if there is a cheaper deal....

Has anyone got any tips? She wants a cheap deal for more than 120 text messages (pref more than 200 a month) and no more than 60xnet mins.

Is the 02 a good deal? What should she say to Orange rententions? She is quite happy keeping the phone she has at the moment. The only thing would be that she would have to get it unblocked if she were to move from Orange.

Any ideas/tips on this would be gladly received!

I moved from o2 to Orange & am getting 120 mins/anytime/xnet & 250 texts for £25. That's just through their website with no dealing so I'm sure you could do better. Daughter has the o2 sim with 300 free txts which is a great deal if you only use about £10 of calls a mth. You can pick up the sims free now & again & you can get your phone unlocked for next to nothing(free if nokia) @ https://www.unlockme.co.uk
Hope this is some use to you......... ;)

Suggest you read "3 is the cheapest, but is it best" thread before making any decision to move to 3
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
  • The three offer looks good- but I really wouldn't want her to go on it- and I don't think she would as the service is pants (from what I can tell) That aside, am I right that she would have to have a three-enabled phone for it to work? She has a Sony Ericsson T610 so I don't think she could use the three network.

Basically she would like a really cheap monthly tariff (ie below £15 a month) and to get lots of texts and if poss some xnet mins. The 02 one gives her 300 texts but not xnet mins (however she doesn't use that many voice mins so the £10 might be enough) Are there any other deals she should look at? Am I right in thinking that Orange retentions will not be able to match 02's pay as you go tariff?

    ADDED----

Many thanks everyone for your help. I have added a post on the Orange retentions thread as I thought this might be more appropriate. My wife has just phoned Orange disconections- see there for what she got.
