Well I finally bought this dell laptop this morning, can you tell me what you all think? and the price too-£342 with free double memory and I emailed the fab customer service guy who gave me 1/2 price delivery too inc in the price.

    Base Intel® Celeron® M Processor 380 (1.60 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 400 MHz FSB)
Microsoft Operating System Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2

    Memory 512MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x256)

Hard Drive 60GB (5,400rpm) Hard Drive

Primary Battery 6 Cell, 56Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery

I also paid a bit extra for a dif battery, what are the main differences and how much battery life should I get from this one?
That's a good deal if I read it rightly. A 15.4" Dell Inspiron 1300 on the Dell website is currently going for £379 incl VAT & Shipping with the following freebies added:
Memory - Now 512MB (Was 256MB) Due to End 01/11/2006.
Save £20 (inc vat) Due to End 04/10/2006.

However did you get the following extras and how much did you pay?
Dell Support Services Basic Package, 1 Year At-Home Service worth £47
Primary Battery 6 Cell, 56Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery worth £23.50
Dell System Media Kit Resource CD - contains Diagnostics and Drivers worth £5.88

Assuming you paid £23.50 for the battery upgrade, £52.88 worth of extras plus £379 is £431.38, so you saved £89.38? Do you mind sharing how you did it, did you use vouchers, or did you hypnotise the customer service rep. :) My niece wants a laptop for uni and she only has a budget of £350.

BTW, I read in a review the four cell battery gives you 1.5 - 2 hours and the six cell approx 3 hours. Hope that helps.

This will undoubtedly be a scam.

  • I definitely think so too
  • Can someone help? I am not exactly computer literate but my dad is looking for a laptop. He wants a large memory, fast processor and a large screen (not necessarily widescreen). He wants this for his own personal daily use instead of using a desktop pc.

He has been looking at Acer laptops in comet today but I thought I would ask you guys for your opinions as you are the experts and have test driven many!

Thanks for your help in advance!

Did you get the double ram with it? How much was the offer on the double ram? Cheers.

Nah, you get 512mb as standard, they wanted 55 quid for the double ram offer - a bit steep when you can buy it yourself for 35. They also charge 11 quid for deliver, unless you buy an accesory with it, then it's free.
