I have just bought this Acer Aspire 5535 from Tesco for £390. It has 4gb of ram. The comet one has 3gb.

Is this a good choice?

I can I get a better spec for cheaper.

I dunno if anyone else has mentioned this deal but I got a Toshiba Satellite L300-1AS laptop http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L300-1AS/1058210/ for £398 in store @ Staples (£436.99 inc VAT on their website)

The Toshiba L300-1AS LAPTOP features, Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4GB Ram, 250GB Hard Drive, 15.4" Display, Windows Vista Home Premium it also comes with a built in webcam with Face Recognition.

I was quite surprised at this deal because it's double the memory of the model next to it on the shelf and roughly a tenner more!

I am thinking about buying the 4GB Acer, too. The thing niggling at the back of my mind is that DH and I have had an Acer each which broke down after 2 years :mad: and I don't want to fall victim again. I originally wanted the Sony NS10LS but it's discontinued and only Comet stock it at £449 which is £50 more than Currys were last week.

Our alternatives to the Acer is the Compaq CQ60-114 which is £399, the Dell 1545 for £399 OR to go out of the £400 bracket and get a Sony FW21L for £579 (with Blu Ray to go with my new TV). I've looked in Comet, Currys, PCworld, Tesco and Argos and I am not anywhere nearer making a decision yet and DH is itching to get his hands on a new toy as he has next week off.

We want it for a variety of reasons, work, games, browsing, MSEing and instant messeging services.

Can anyone help??? TIA

Why do you keep posting about their auction listings (and giving exact auction ID's), do you not realise you're basically doing their spamming for them???

Okely dokely- I removed the ID from my post - why did you copy it in above?
But I do agree with your request for Buster (gary/scott) to be off....

Incidentally, I have started a whole new thread for this in the Warnings & Rip-Offs forum under the heading of "Cornish Electrical Goods Suppliers on EBID/EBAY"- perhaps the previous grieved parties would like to add some comments there. So the Cheap Laptop thread can continue unimpeded...

It is a good choice, but this one Acer 5735 is with arguably better processor if you don't mind the 160GB instead of the 250GB you have got. Click here AS said earlier, Toshiba L300-1AS has it all, but with a bit smaller screen (15.4")
