Anybody have any views on Tiny Computers? They have some very good deals. Don't know anything about quality, service etc
Tiny Computers, along with Time Computers who own them, have one of the worst reputations for service.0 -
Thanks Grahawk, for your great reply and information0

The ACER Aspire 1362WLC has been discontinued and superceded by 1362WLMi. Costs more but is better spec (so they tell me)Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0

No. The software supplied with your Dell PC is only licensed for use on that PC.How do I add a signature?0 -
Ok, I have got around £600 to spend on a new laptop (well its for some one else). Anyone got some suggestions, or advice for good stores to look at?
Not to bothered about the size or battery life as it is for around the house.0 -
@lmpd
Centrino based Pentium 4 M 1.5 GHz for a little more at £649 - item sku 219096 at comet online....1.5 GHz Centrino is roughly equivalent to a Desktop Pentium 4 2.8GHz.....ok brand Acer with DVD/CDRW....& wireless....just chuck some more memory in it if need be after a while and it while be quite a swanky machine to have around the home!Beware Lego Men with Deep pockets...! :cool:0 -
Hi,
This is my first posting on this site although have been receiving the weekly tips for a while!
Been reading through a lot of the tips on here about laptops and just wanted some basic advice.
There is a Toshiba Portege 7020 featured on this website which was mentioned above:
http://www.student-laptops.co.uk/acatalog/Internet_Suitable.html
for £219 including VAT.
Several people have mentioned that Toshibas are good - what do people think of this one?
Specifications at a glance - Pentium II 366 MHz, 128Mb, 6Gb, floppy, 13.3" TFT, Windows ME and Office 97. You can add an external CD-ROM or CD-RW.
I am not bothered about watching DVDs on it or playing games etc - I just want something simple and reliable with a reasonable spec, mainly to be able to use the Microsoft office packages and to connect to the Internet at a reasonable speed.
I have just bought my first house so money is a little tight at the moment so don't want to spend a fortune!!
Thanks.0 -
Do you need a laptop for any particular reason? If not why not get a desktop, they are usually better value for money?0

I have been looking at laptops as well. IBM & Dell seem to be the offerings of the moment. Have looked at Student laptops & a couple of other firms mentioned. Hoping for windows xp, modem and as a bonus only the ability to play the micrsoft 2004 flight game. Any hope at the £300 mark.
Thanks
