Removing the smell of curry from a property - how difficult?

Hi all - first time poster here - I have a potential question/problem and was wondering if anyone of you may have encountered this one before?
I viewed a property recently, which we liked, but it had a very strong smell of curry throughout the property. I've looked on a few forums and from what I've read of other people's experiences it appears this can be quite a difficult smell to get rid of (can set into carpets/units etc apparently) - I wondered if anyone had ever been involved in a sale for a property with this problem and if you know of any solutions or had come across this type of problem before?

Depends on how strong it is,if its in the cupbaords, curtains and carpets they will all need replacing.0

Wallpaper too perhaps.0

Hmm, thats intriguing. A brief google search reveals a few people with similar issues and the one 'solution' that keeps cropping up is Ozone generators.... sounds like kerazee science to me, but if the smell is that bad, might be worth a peek.

Get a really smelly dog/cat/husband/wife/partner/old lady/old man to move in with you for a few months. Won't notice the curry any more.
Either that or cook lots of fish dishes with cabbage garnish.0 -
you could try febreze0

Basically what all the others have said...replacing the curtains / carpets / furniture / wallpaper, giving everything a good clean, opening all the windows and airing the place.0

lol I wonder how many potential sales they lost because of this problem0

Apart from replacing the soft furnishings, the other thing you may need to do (if it's anything like cigarette smoke) is repaint surfaces. But if you do both those things, I very much doubt it would be a permanent issue.0

Dog smells worse. Cigs smell worse. Urine smells worse. Much worse.
Unless someone's been painting the walls with asafoetida it shouldn't be that hard though.0 -
My mum once rented a house that smelt strongly of curry. A few days of windows wide open and lots of febreze/air freshener and it was gone. I think the previous tenants responsible for the smell had only had it for 6-12 months though. Guess it depends how long the smell has built up over?0
