I believe that you should be able to move from O2 PAYG to one of their SIM only Simplicity deals (30 day contract, or you can sign up for 12 months and get a few hundred more minutes to use). Doing this through customer services should allow you to keep your existing number.0

I'm thinking about doing exactly this but was going to go through QUIDCO to get some cashback. Will I still be able to keep my existing number if I do it over the web rather than through customer services?0

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Yes, if you're willing to temporarily port your number over to another PAYG network. Then you sign up to O2 and port your number away from your temporary network.
You might have to top-up on this temporary SIM. As such, Orange SIM with free credit
Alternatively phone O2 up and tell them you're going to do exactly what I just described if they don't match the deal you found online (including the cashback). It's worth a shot.0 -
Thanks DrScotsman. I thought it looked too good to be true. I guess it's worth a phonecall though. I'm a longstanding but not very profitable customer so it will be interesting to see whether they'll offer anything.0
