Hi - I just read all advice on this page and thought I'd go for it....pricked the pastry all over with a fork and it's turned out perfect.0

My neighbour had some lovely 'Atlantic Pebbles' delivered to lay in his garden. Lovely and smooth and round they were. So (with his permission), I pinched a few, gave them a good old wash and they work perfectly! And every time I bake a quiche I look at them and think 'they've come all the way from the bottom of the Atlantic'!Toto, something tells me we're not in Kansas anymore......0

i used to use a handful of washed gravel off the drive, but since i've moved there don't seem to be any gravel drives around for me to pinch some from. i like the idea of using coins though, talk about making your money work harder! i was worried anything metal would get too hot and somehow be a bad idea, but since reading this thread i will give it a go. thanks for the suggestions0
