I think the idea is basically enjoy the savings but don't hiss them off, enjoy the benefits but do not wind them up. For example I never hand over duplicates now, if I have several duplicates I will split my shopping.

In the instance above with the Nice n Easy vouchers, you said you used about £40 worth which were Superdrug specific and therefore probably not meant to be used in Asdas/Sainsburys. Personally, I would worry about the cashier getting a talking to from the Manager or getting into trouble, because when they go to send the vouchers off they would be unable to claim the money from the coupon issuer and would therefore have incurred a loss of £40 on that day's takings. Please don't take it as a criticism of yourself it is just my personal opinion of a certain situation that you mentioned.

Hiya Igloo - I remember your thread, that was terrible treatment at the time.

Just read that old thread. That is an awful way to be treated. I have noticed that they are being a lot stricter on coupons now and like many others I tend to choose checkout staff who are young and don't care about what they take. I tend to get away with about £10 per £50 shop - not bad!
:T Benjamin has won!!! Am soooo proud. Thank you to everyone who agreed my baby was the cutiest. Want to go round and hug everyone who voted, it means so much to me!:A

I may be being a bit thick here but how do people save so much off vouchers? Where do you get them from in the first place, can you use vouchers in your general shop for items you haven't bought and is there any other basic money saving stuff I am missing the boat on 'cos I had no idea about these 'loopholes'? Thanks in advance ;)

I'm sorry but saving £9 on a £10 shop is a bit too extreme. I'm all for money saving and use the odd coupon on my shopping, but handing over piles of them is taking it a bit too far, i work on the tills in ASDA and believe me if your abusing the system, you will get caught eventually! Theres one pair of people who come in every thursday evening at 8 on the dot and their payment is watched very closely as they are known for being overly coupon -tastic!

Like welsh dragon said, us as cashiers will get into trouble, if at the end the manufacturer wont honour the coupons. i've noticed its quite easy to sneak them past newbie checkout assistants!
Wins 2016: Dogfest ticks, B&M dog Hamper, Dog food, Dog blanket, Hair product, meal for 2 and wine at pub, craft bundle, organic surge gift pack, £100 gullivers world voucher, stress out cd, £200 seascape vouchers, popcorn maker, mandarin body butter, Wishing for a holiday win!

Hi, I try to use as many vouchers as I can and it is very hit and miss how much you can use. I just hand over a handful of vouchers and politely ask the cashier to take whichever one's they can. In the last couple of weeks I have got approx £70 off my shopping bills that originally totalled about £140 so I am looking at a 50% reduction on average. however this has varied from £40 off a £45 shop to only being given £8 off a £50 shop!!!

do you buy them from ebay? i just depend on finding them in mags and papers, but there must be other ways if you guys are saving so much on a weekly basis!!!

I saved £29 yesterday in Asda on a split shop (2), spending £71 before coupons deducted.
I have used the Nice & Easy ones for the last few weeks, with the managers consent. He said they do get the money back on them.
If I'm unsure about any coupon I always go to CS first. In the last 8-10 mths only had 5 refused and they apologised!

Hi, I hope this previous post will help (from Rambler):

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=2186030&postcount=19

Also, if you go to the top of this page and choose 'search chat forum' and type in 'coupons' you'll find recent threads about where to get them etc. Newspapers and magazines are the simplest place to get regular money-off vouchers (usually off the purchase of another mag but in most branches of Tesco/Asda/Waitrose you don't have to buy the mag mentioned to use the coupon!).

I buy quite a few manufacturer's coupons on eBay but would only recommend this to someone who is fairly used to which ones will scan (for instance there are a lot of internet printed ones being sold at times on ebay but you could print them off yourself for nothing by reading MSE regularly!). :D

Also it's best to look out for high value ones (fifty coupons at '10p/20p off' isn't much good if you have to use them by the end of the month and your local shop will only accept, say, 3 coupons per transaction!). £1 or £2 off nappies (Huggies or Pampers) are good - you don't buy the nappies - and rather than buy these on eBay you can get them by registering with the relevant websites (sorry I don't have a link but just start 'googling' well known large manufacturers if you've got time...!).

Try picking up the Somerfield or Asda magazine (or buying Sainsbury's one for £1.20, you get a few pounds-worth of money-off coupons). Then cut out the coupons, keep them in your car in date order and off you go! The rival supermarket magazine ones MAY not be accepted though as Tesco etc cannot reclaim the money...but they do scan if you find a cashier happy to accept them.

    Happy shopping, :T

P.S. It's a bit much for an Asda employee to say that too much coupon usage is wrong, when SOME branches of Asda accept ANY amount off your shopping! At Waitrose it's the national policy to accept any manufacturers' coupons that they stock the item for, in any multiple!
