I looked a bit more the other night into the curry leaf plant, it seems its nothing to do with curry that we use at all. Bit of conflicting advice really, some only seem to think its good in salads while others use it more in the kitchen.

I would expect that if you haven't any experience of cooking with it, maybe going for more usual herbs to start with is a good idea and working your way up to the more unusual ones.
Although growing what everyone else is, can be a little boring
