Layout changes?

I'm new here I know, but at the risk of sounding cheeky, may I make a couple of suggestions?
Upon initial viewing of this forum, the content of which is beyond reproach, I found the visuals and layout a little confusing and 'cluttered'?
I have been on the net a while and run my own forum- not that i know what is best (taste is a personal thing anyway)- but personally I think this wonderful site could perhaps re-arrange a few of the links, icons and info which is beneath the header image?
I don't claim to have a panacea (not that the site needs it), just offering a few thoughts! :T
