Personally I wouldnt touch an Hitachi with a bargepole

Theyre 'rebranded' (Hitachi no longer make tvs)

Id put any Sony for a similar price against that (And any Panasonic or Samsung too)

They are really nice TVs but, IMO, no better than the equivalent normally backlit Samsungs. You are paying a massive premium for LED sidelighting which allows for a slimmer TV. If that's important (and I agree, it does look sexy) then it's probably worth paying for but in every other respect, there's no real advantage.

The older model Samsung LED TVs were LED backlit and that did provide visible picture improvements, but not the slim form factor.

Hi, we have the samsung 1080p 40" and its just gone wrong. We bought it at costco 2 years ago and they rang today and said we can get a refund or a new telly :j Cant quite believe it, what a service.
So now we have to research whats new and choose another tv.
We have about £800 to spend and are wondering whether to add a bit more and go for an LED or just go like for like. Would like to stick with costco as their service is great but I'll go whith the best buy.
Any thoughts on what I should consider in this price bracket.
    Thanks
