Hello all,
I am looking to purchase a tv and have been told to buy after Christmas when the prices will be lower, is it true or are there any bargains out there? I do need a tv now though, any help most appreciated.

What size tv are you after and how much have you got to spend (top budget).

There are many uncertainties governing future prices - retailer strategy, overall economy, and exchange rates to name three but there is also one certainty - VAT goes back to 17.5% from 15% on Jan 1 2010

if you go to richer sounds i would have more than one model number of tv in mind as they can often be out of stock. sony, panasonic and maybe samsung are the way to go regarding brands. dont let them persuade you to get an lg. my local richer sounds is obsessed with lg.
ps waiting until after xmas would be unlikely to be worth it. last year there wasnt many good deals after xmas compared to before.

i watched this i wouldnt take much notice of this show myself even though the panasonic will most likely be better than the tv they compared it with. i say this because they only compared it with one tv and it was an old model.
they did a hd camcorder comparison and all 3 camcorders were rubbish and yet they were describing them as good. surely most people realise that you have to pay at least £400 to get a decent hd camcorder at the moment.
so basically this tv show stinks.

Check out reviews and prices on newer model Samsungs. We're very pleased with our LE37B651 (except maybe wishing we'd bought a 40") ...

One final thing to bear in mind after satisfying yourself about how good the picture will be etc. is power consumption. There are big differences even between models in the same brand. Choosing a high consumption one could easily cost you dearly over the years.

This site shows some and will give you an idea of the sort of target wattage to be aiming for..
