    Hi,

I went to the bank last week, but it was too busy to ask about my account, i was going to change it, Anyway, how do i get a readycash account. I already have a cash isa, and a savings account, now called (passbook)

All i want it for is a debit card, as i'd like to be able to buy things from the internet. I go to the bank not often as i have to walk there. Once every three years is basically what i do :o

Would it be better to get a readycash account, or a pre pay debit card thing, i have seen them on the internet, but they look expsenive. thanks x

So this means it is a first for a mastercard debit card! Which current accounts will have the mastercard debit card....not the maestro one?

    Hi All,

I wonder if shops such as Netto, Lidl & Aldi that don't accept MasterCard Credit cards will accept these?

I guess they should do as they are pure debit cards, but would the software possibly think they are credit cards so refuse them?

    Cheers

So to double confirm this, all accounts from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank accounts will get the MASTERCARD debit card and NOT Maestro (for basic accounts)????

From what this thread is saying, MAESTRO cards are reserved for basic accounts!

The Readycash is quite a good account, minus a cheque book, the Maestro Card is accepted everywhere. The internet banking is good as it's done in 'real time', soon as anything is bought it shows up immediately:j
I think you would be better with this account rather than a pre-paid card.

Didn't maestro used to be a combination of your sort code and account number or was that just HSBC? My maestro card shows the usual 6759 then sort code and account number, i.e. 6759 404040 12345678

I've got my late father's debit card and it seems to be made up of the sort code/account number!

It looks like there going down to 16 digits

Debit Cards issued after September 2009
I’ve received my new debit card and it looks different to my old card, why is this?

We’ve updated your card to reduce your card number from 19 digits to 16 digits. Your sort code and account number are also displayed in a more prominent position.

Think that will be better with just 16 digits and spaces between easier to read:T

I'm sure they will accept them. They just need to update their BIN database, so that retailers can accept MasterCard debit cards.
