got a tv from argos nearly two years ago and took out extended warrently, now there is a promble with the screen and the repair said argos will only pay £200 for repairs and the screen he thinks will be over that so he said i would have to return to argos and exchange, but they no longer stock them and the same size one is £100 more. so i thought i would get a refund but looking on the warrenty it says they only give you argos gift tokens back if unrepairable.
i can't afford £100 more to put to it do you think i could get a cash refund or get a same size set without having to pay more

don't really know details of this specific scheme, but I'd generally expect them to replace like-for-like, irrespective of cost.0

technology has moved on so much in that time. So with that youre probably quids in. You will certainly be able to get a tv of the same size if you look enough. New stock is coming in all the time or just wait for an Argos sale.
You can always ask but they arent obliged to give you a more expensive telly.
and probably wont.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

£200 worth of repairs on a 2 year old TV seems reasonable. Its much like cars were if written off if over a proportion of value.
I highly doubt a substitutable TV is £100 more. TV prices have crashed and I'd expect a tv from 2 years ago to be selling for several hundreds less. Could you give more details here?
As for the cover

1.2 The replacement product will be identical to the original insured product or, if no longer available, one up to the same value. Alternatively, at our discretion, we may offer Argos vouchers.
1.3 Our maximum liability under this insurance is limited to the original price you paid for your insured product
Seems straight forward. You wont get more than you paid but if your TV isnt any longer made it will be replaced with a similar TV or vouchers.0 -
the tv i got was a 37in acoustic solutions priced at £380 now the cheapest 37in is £479.99.
so if it can't be repaired they what will they do, give me £380 in vouchers in which i can't get a same size tv which we want.
can't afford the extra £1000 -

but acoustic solutions is a very poor make of TV. They arent going to give you a premium brand instead to the same spec.
Argos will almost certainly give you vouchers and let you decide on a smaller screen or paying more0 -
vouchers not much good if i can't get that size0

kathrynt - you paid for argos warranty - look on terms and conditions of it. If i remember rightly from when i worked for them (3 years ago) they would replace defective goods with the equivalent specifications or value. you need to contact argos - with the details - ie your till reciept and ask them. when i worked for them had a customer with similar prob and she was delighted to be given a tv of a much better spec but similar value. i also had a customer who brought back a walkman and explained she always buys the warranty as she hadnt had to pay for a new walkman in years! (the tend to bust after about six months) if you have the warranty i doubt if you would be offered vouchers hun. i am fairly sure they offer repair or replacement.0

If you're dead set on a 37 incher then it might be best to sell your vouchers on E-Bay or through the local newspapers, taking a loss and try and find a cheaper one elsewhere.
Can't vouch for this place http://www.cheap-lcd-tv.co.uk/37_LG_37LC46_HD_Ready_Digital_Freeview_LCD_TV_291_d?tduid=2481038702eb5ae549be75159edbb3d8 but it's one I stumbled upon whilst looking for my TV.0 -
Could you post the spec of your current tv? You may not be comparing like for like.Gone ... or have I?0
