cleaning seat belts?

I don't if this should be here or in the cleaning forum, so forgive me.

Can someone recommend something to clean my seat belts? They're a cream/beige colour but they're starting to look grubby. I'm sure I read somewhere that you can weaken the fabric of the belt with some cleaning liquids but I can't remember what kinds were mentioned. Is there a special cleaner that I should get or would something like a weak solution of Stardrops be okay?

All our other cars have had black belts and i've never noticed the dirt before. :o
