ppi claim against BOS

Just a quick update. :(

Following the stage 1 PPI letter which we sent to BOS on 22/09/09, we received a call from someone at BOS to advise, they had received our letter and would be looking into it.
They advised that an acknowledgement letter was being sent to us. My question is, how long do they have to come back to us? Is there a legal limit or anything?

Any help very much appreciated.

They have 8 weeks to resolve the complaint fully so another few weeks to wait before taking it any further (if in fact you have to??). ;)

So if i have had no contact within the next two to three weeks, should i get in touch with them? or is it best to wait and see if they contact me within the eight weeks?

    thanks

    Hi Jean

As soon as the 8 weeks have passed, you have the right to continue to take your complaint to the FOS. So even if you hear nothing - move on.
    Good luck.;)

:T I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to this website!!
My husband has just been refunded ALL of his PPI on his loan. He got back just over £3000 and has had his loan paid off:D

All it took was 1 letter (the stage one template letter) from this site, and within 2months since that was sent, has been reimbursed without any hassle from Bank of Scotland at all.

I can't highlight enough to anyone with a loan, to check if they have any ppi on their agreement and apply for a refund if, like us, they feel they have a case.

Thanks for all your help and advice with this. It is very very much appreciated.

Congratulations  Great to hear of your success. Thanks for the update.

I wrote to BOS 25/09, have had reply saying they will give me calcualtion soon, and refund within a month, this was 11 November. Chased today and they say calculation may be complicated by previous loan paid off and to chase if nothing heard in 2 weeks. They have been good so far and hopefully I will hear soon.

Can I ask please how long after you got the calculation did you have to wait for the refund?

    Hiya,

They got back to us within the 8 weeks of our letter being sent. My husband had a phone call from them saying they had received our letter and asking how soon he wanted it resolved (?) (which i thought an odd question!) however, he told them asap as he had been paying off the loan for over 5 years. A couple of days later he got a letter saying it was being investigated and they would be in touch within a month of that letter.

The next he heard was a phone call saying they would clear off any overdraft he had with them aswell as the balance left on the loan. He got the letter with the breakdown a few days after that call, and his money was refunded less than 2 weeks later.

I can't tell you how glad i am that we sent off the letter from money saving expert. Just stick with it is my advice, and if your not happy with their offer, you don't need to accept it, you can take it to the financial ombudsman.

Good luck, and keep us posted on any developments!!

Hi just wondering what reason did they give for clearing your overdraft too? and the balance on the loan was that cleared because the ppi refund covered the outstanding balance or did they just write it off?

Sorry for all the questions its just im waiting on my reply to find out what they are doing about 6 loans i have had with ppi on them.

    Thanks:confused:

    Hi There

Please be aware that if they uphold your complaint about mis sold PPI then you can ask them to send the money to you to spend as you want rather than them telling you how it will be spent.;)

  • Thanks maxdp i didnt know i could ask them to do that.
