  • Hi all, not posted for quite a while but been reading about all your bargains and always enjoy the thread :o)
Most recent charity shop buy bargains are 4 SCS latest range giant sofa cushions still in wrapping for £20...Originally I thought the price was a bit steep (was in budget mode haha) but after going home and looking on the website and seeing they were charging £90 for 2!!! I literally ran all the way back to the shop! :rotfl: They look great and have given my living room suite a zesty new look in chocolate brown and lime green.

Clothing bargains include this seasons new look checked shirt 20p, emerald green sequin vest top £1 and lovely grey tunic dress 50p from a local 1 week charity shop, then yesterday I was very pleased to get a stunning scarlet red heavily beaded and sequined vintage evening top and an emerald green vintage tunic top with 3/4 sleeves, high scoop neck and frills at an angle across the front ...both for £3 woohoo Hope everyone else gets some good bargains too, have a good bank holiday weekend
    £264.05 / £11,000 in 2011 :j
frugal living 2011 total spend £300

oh dear my local oxfam has recently got a new manager who has obviously watched mary portas and now has priced everything so high i laugh every time i go in and leave empty-handed. i used to potter in there 2 or 3 times a week and pick up something or rather, but it's now just full of really absurd priced stuff it's not worth it, as the stock isn't changing and eg a tesco f&f or atmosphere shirt for a tenner when you'd have bought it retail new for less than a fiver??! there's even an ugly silk picture there (a £2 indian market thing, new, not antique, adn really ordianry looking) on sale for £75. as for books - crazy.. they've obviously taken an abebooks highest price which is never going to be realistic. such a shame.

Got an assortment of scarfs, sarongy things today and a strap top for £5. There was a lovely MASSIVE swirly sun brooch for £7 but I didn't have enough cash for it. Will hopefully pop back tomorrow and it will still be there *fingers crossed*

Picked up an excellent condition copy of the 80s boardgame 'ghost castle' for £2. Sells for about £15-20 on ebay. I'm not selling it though, me and my also-80s-nostalgic brother have been after it for aaaaaaaages!

My local Oxfam is the same - most of the clothes they sell are quite "granny" but in a bad way rather than kooky. If its that bad hopefully the sales will die off and she might realise she is overpricing. You could nicely mention it to her and just see what she says. If she is a professional person she should be happy to receive feedback whether good or bad

I am going to pop into the local cheapo charity shop tomorrow - hoping for a bargain or two
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • Because it's a typical Bank Holiday weekend - cold and wet - ignored the local car boot sale and headed for a couple of my local charity shops instead. After picking up a couple of scarves for £1 each - one a Liberty silk and the other a Dior silk chiffon - I found a Remoska in my favourite local charity shop. It's the Grand (the larger size) and came complete with the inside rack for £7.50.. Plus a lovely, probably Edwardian silver brooch which has cleaned up really well (it was not only tarnished, but covered in nicotine..) and that was £5!

Got a few decent things today but the best was a boden jersey dress (as new) 10p and a M and S long sleeved purple top 50p!

Oh i love that game (i'm also an 80's child), i saw dream phone (another 80's game) in a charity shop last week but i didn't buy it.

My daughters school had a table top sale at school this week and there was a selection of carebears, i bought one for 20p, when i got home and looked on e-bay i realized it was a set and would have been worth 10.00+, if only i had picked up all of them .
